The lid seemed really solid and durable. It has a very strong seal that taking it off is a little difficult but will wear down. Don’t know how this person broke it but the lady I bought one for uses it everyday. I suggested not putting the lid in the dishwasher because of the seal being rubber. I think it’s is suppose to keep hot thing hot and cold things cold. Treat it like a thermos.
