Q: The speedsafe mechanism on my knife only opens it about 75% of the way, does that mean it's defective?

No, the screw is holding the blade too tight. You can either loosen it slightly, or just keep opening it and closing it for a while. It will eventually loosen up. Mine did the same thing when I first purchased mine. This is the best EDC knife I have.

Q: Can i paint the handle of this knife ?

It will take paint, but if you are going to paint it, prep it first. Make sure to disassemble everything so everything fits properly when coated.

Q: Can anybody tell me what size and what type type of screw to loosen the blade and relocate the pocket clip?

Most Kershaw's (including the Misdirect) use a T6 screw to attached the pocketclip - check out our TX Tool (model TXTOOL) if you're looking for one that works for any Kershaw.
