Yes it is the kind to microwave but the item you are creating must be 100% cotton and any type of thread or material must be 100% cotton as well.

Q: Is this good for use in pot holders?

I have used it to make bowl cozies that go in the microwave, I don't know about for potholders, I use insulbrite for that

This product is 100% Cotton Batting with out Scrim, and that is the only type of batting that can be used in the microwave.

Q: I want to get this for soup bowl holders. My question is, will i need to use this single or double it? Im not sure how thick it.is.

My pattern for the soup bowl cozy has a piece of the wrap-n-zap sewn to the top piece and another one sewn to the bottom piece. So I guess it is double when you are through.
