I use this product to knit socks.

These are about as basic as aluminum dpns get. They're affordable, the stitches slide well, they feel light in the hand. The only "con" is the colored finish scrapes off after a while, leaving a rough spot in the scraped area.

Just received my size 10 dpns today from Amazon seller "Yards n Yarn" and was pleasantly surprised to find that there were 5 needles in the set instead of 4. I've only seen the Bates Silvalume sold as sets of 4, so when I saw the title for this listing (which says 5pk as of writing) and the description (which specifies that the needles are a 4pk), I wasn't expecting more than the usual 4. Well I was pleasantly surprised! Not only did my package arrive in 2 days, but my manufacturer-sealed pack had an extra needle. The seller even hand-wrote a thank you on the packing slip. Way to go for quick, professional service.Not sure if Bates used to produce these dpns as sets of 5 and are now producing them as sets of 4 or vice-versa. Just assume that your pack will not contain more than 4 needles and then be pleasantly surprised if it does.

Used for knitting and attaching amigarumi parts.

I purchased this item for my daughter, a fellow knitter. She was very pleased with them. Many knitters debate as to which dpn's are the best. I wish I could answer this question for you but it boils down to personal preference. I've read the prius and cons for metal and bamboo. The only way to truly know is to purchase one of each and use them. This solution sounds expensive but it is not when you really think about it. I'd rather purchase one set and decide I don't like it than to purchase a set that has all the sizes only to find out they aren't for me. Happy knitting!
