Mortar and Pestle Set with Longer Pestle(6.25'') and Anti-Scratch Pad, Granite Unpolished Molcajete, Spices Grinder for Guacamole, Herb, Spices, Pastes, Salads

I wanted one of these for years. Glad I read the reviews. The long pestle keeps me from scraping my knuckles when using it, I can see where that might be an issue with other sets. I cook most of our meals from scratch, and there is no better way for grinding and mixing dried herbs and spices. I have not used it for guacamole, like most of the photos of these products show, so I cannot comment on that. But it is great for grinding seed and herbs. It is a little clumsy to wash because it is so heavy and rough textured, and has to be dried immediately, but that is not a flaw with the product, just the nature of the material. Also, the prep to use the thing was awful. I am an older woman and had sore wrists and hands for days after trying to grind that rice to a powder, which I was never able to do, after a while I just quit. I should have recruited hubby to assist with this. But overall I am very pleased with the product.

It arrived with the individual pieces wrapped in bubble wrap and in perfect condition. I started the “seasoning” steps (directions included) which went faster then I expected. I first ground the 1/3 cup white rice (I used long grain jasmine rice because that is what I had) to flour. It took about 30 minutes. Everything looked fine. I did it again anyway.Then I ground the seed and garlic cloves combo. I think the raw garlic is requested in this step due to its antibacterial qualities.I then used it to pulverize my seeds, etc to make Italian sausage. Perfect!This mortar and pestle is made from granite. Granite is a crystalline material. Not sedimentary like clays, shales, and sandstone. Granite is a combination of quartz, feldspar, apetite, biotite, etc. crystals formed under pressure. It should last for generations!

Good for use

This is the perfect size for my needs but I should have paid more attention to the product weight as it is quite heavy and my arthritic hands rebel. I am keeping this set because it works, looks good and cleans well. Thanks.

This mortar and pestle is a very solid, heavy piece of stone and it's very easy to use. This one is cheaper, but it has the same quality and you'll see why. The bowl is a middle size and will make a generous portion of guacamole.

This M&P works great, but be prepared for a significant amount of work to get it properly seasoned. It will be a good (and long) workout of your arms while you pound rice into a paste to get the bits of rock out. This is true of ANY M&P that is made from granite, volcanic rock, or any kind of rock. If you don't want to do the labor, use a wood or ceramic M&P, but I think the results of this one are worth the time and effort.

The shape of this makes it very easy to grind large amounts, and the longer pestle makes it much easier. It is very weighty and sturdy. I have a larger one, but I like this one much better

Bought as a gift so it hasn't been used yet however I did open it to make sure everything was good and it's actually really nice for such a good price. I'm very happy with the purchase. Will Add more after it's used

The longer pestle is awesome. Prevents u from continously hitting the mortar when pounding. Looks great as a decorative item in the kitchen too

Its really effective at making up smooth pastes with minimal effort.
