Lord of the Butterflies

This is the best book of poetry I have ever read in my life. As a non-binary artist, most of my theatre-making is centred around creating space for trans and non-binary performers to exist or advocate for themselves. It is so profoundly meaningful to hold Andrea Gibson's words in my queer hands. To see someone else who uses they/them pronouns be so widely accepted and loved for their artistry means the world to me and helps me to imagine the possibility of not only my work but also the work of other queer and trans artists spreading across the world. BUY THIS BOOK. You'll likely need multiple copies. Buy one for your coffee table at home, one for your office and one for your purse because I promise you: one day you'll come across a stranger or a friend and they will in need of some poetry that strikes to the core of their being and you will be a hero in that moment because you'll be able to hand them this book without skipping a beat and make their millenium.

Whoah. I just finished reading this cover to cover. I am so inspired and moved. This beautiful collection touches your soul in forgotten places you’ve neglected for years. I laughed out loud and I dogeared a majority of the book.I bought this on the reviews- and I am blown out of the water. Will use selections in my 8th grade English class.

I have followed Andrea Gibson for awhile on social media through her Button Poetry spoken word videos. Ordered this book right away and breathlessly read the volume, even going so far as to dog ear my favorites. This is a volume I intend to come back to again and again. So grateful to Andrea Gibson for sharing her gifts with us. Buy it!

I really like this book. I could read it several times over. It's nice to pick it up and read a few pages after a long day. It's not so deep that I can't understand it but it gets me thinking.

This is such a beautiful work. I love Andrea Gibson, and I own most of their anthologies, but this book surpassed all of my expectations. Amazingly, I think they just keep getting better. I eagerly await their next anthology.

Andrea Gibson is a wizard with words. They make me feel less alone in the world in regards to my gender identity, mental illness, and the general unease that accompanies existing.

I bought this book for my husband for his birthday, but had to read it myself before giving it to him! I love Andrea is poetry and I highly recommend this book.

This newest work from Andrea is a collection of some of the boldest, bravest, most poignant poems I've ever known. They make me laugh, cry, rage, and despair. I buy this book as gift for anyone who matters in my life so they can be affected they way I have by Andrea's beautiful words.

I bought this book as I was sick of all my favorite poets being dead. Andrea writes magnificently, it seems there is no end to their talent. I loved all their poems regarding grief and mental illness. Very insightful!
