Happiness Trap Pocket Book

This is the illustrated version from UK
Since I already have the US version of this book, its really annoying to me that it was not clear that there is two versions of this book. This is not a pocket-sized, this is a graphic novel that help support the written book, The Happiness Trap. There is a better version of this already out in the United States.

The right treatment of an important topic
I did like the happiness trap in its original form but this is excellent. It is the right level to be usable and easy to pick up and reread. Some of the illustrations are so bad that they are funny. The concepts and the theories are so well expressed that I find them refreshing and powerful.Dr Harris has achieved a great step forward from the simplistic "Positive thinking" books that promise great results but deliver almost nothing. I would like to see this book used at local high schools as required reading. Well done. I would like the reality slap treated in the same way.

Fun to "read" and love the cartoons!
This is like a cartoon form of the book with the eqivalent of outline form in the sense of content, but the key ideas are listed and it is a great way to "read the whole book" without reading the whole book.

A must-have for any ACT clinician
This is a must-have for any ACT clinician's professional library. The illustrated nature of the book makes concepts easily accessible to both clinicians and patients alike, and is a great way to socialize patients to the ACT model. I have purchased three copies: two to lend out to patients and one for myself. I have had several patients comment on how much they enjoyed the book and some have even opted to purchase the full version on their own.

Very good
This was very good and very useful, particularly for people who are having some challenges in their life at the time. If you need something to pick you up, this might be the book for you. I liked it.

An excellently illustrated guide to ACT
An excellently illustrated guide to ACT,....Russ has a real and in my view an unparalleled talent for educating and communicating this model....in all his books available on Amazon. I have given this to my 15-year-old daughter - who is struggling with anxiety and other issues, - and the book is ideal for anyone who would find the illustrated style easier to absorb. All the main ideas are here. For those who are not aware Russ has available on-line ACT courses. I have only just completed one - and it was well worth it. (put "I'm Learning Act" into your search engine.

Easy read
I usually struggle with self help books as I find the whole positive thinking/ affirmations thing very difficult. Like if it was that simple there wouldn’t really be a mental health crisis going on would there! This book is different, it’s a quick easy read with some very good ideas that I have already started to put in to practice. Definitely plan on reading this authors other books!

useful
This is not like other self help books i have seen, although I am not an aficionado as I tend to be snotty about fast fixes for the psyche. However, it is based on reliable research and the techniques in it do genuinely work. It's not a book to read through, though - it is a workbook where you pause and try to practise ways of stopping tormenting yourself and getting on with life, an outcome which many people would like. The basic premise is that into each life some rain must fall and attempting Positive Thinking is only going to make things worse. Paradoxically, accepting this is the start of learning to live comfortably with rainfall.

Nice wee book
Having read a few of these books, I would recommend this. Simple, well written and nice illustrations to go with it. Easy to pick up and go over again.

Good introduction or refresher
I was suggested 'The Happiness Trap' by a professional and knowing my lack of attention span went for the Pocketbook as a starting place. It is really accessible and if you do the exercises is really helpful. Try it: just a read through will give benefit.
