Good replacement
Perfect fit to replace bottom heating element of my wall oven. Screwed on fairly easy. Much cheaper than buying from local appliance repair.

It Fits, It Works and It's Cheap--What's Not to Like?
I used to buy nothing but books and DVDs on Amazon. But now I tend to at least check there for many other items that I need. A case in point is this replacement heating element for my GE double wall oven. The original 25-year-old unit in the upper self-cleaning oven failed at a most inopportune time--when I was trying to bake a home-made pizza, which I had to finish in the lower, non-self-cleaning oven (the pizza suffered a little from this harsh treatment). I didn't relish the thought of having to deal with local appliance-parts rip-off artists to get a new element. Then I thought of trying Amazon. I did a quick search by part number and voila!--this replacement heating element popped up. I don't know for sure whether this is a genuine GE part or not. The original has the GE logo and part number stamped on the metal hinge that attaches it to the back of the oven, and this replacement has nothing stamped on it. Regardless, the price was right, and the picture of it looked exactly like the one that failed except that the sections near the front of the oven seemed a little more rounded than the original. Since the dimensions matched exactly, I figured a small difference in shape wouldn't matter, so I placed my order. I ordered it on Monday and it arrived Friday--pretty good service for the $5.00 or so shipping charge. I installed it in a matter of minutes (the terminals are a little closer together than the ones on the original, but that was not a problem), reset the circuit breakers and fired it up. The new element quickly glowed cherry-red, and I knew my repair was successful. In the future I will definitely use Amazon for much more than just books and DVDs--such as a new kitchen faucet that I've been meaning to replace for years...

Perfect fit. Awful packaging
I have a very old GE wall oven, like 50 years old? For several years it hasn't heated up properly. I was thinking of getting a new oven but when I checked the prices I decided to try and fix this one. Simple inspection showed the bottom heating element was broken. This item came quickly and fixed the problem. I had the exact part number from another web site which was charging 3x the price from Amazon. Arrived in good shape and was a perfect fit. Note that the two included screws are to screw the element to the wires. These are machine screws whereas the old screws for the old element were sheet metal screws. One important caveat: THE PACKAGING WAS EXTREMELY POOR. The element was loose in a big cardboard box. It just rattled around inside of it. I can't imagine why some sort of cushioning was not included inside the box. BTW, I was so enthused about this new element I finally ran the self-cleaning program, which heats the oven to 800F. Even though the clock on the oven hasn't worked in 30 years, the self-cleaning program did great. Very satisfied.

Works well...but
One of the holes to attach oven wires with included screws was not threaded. Had to buy a self-threading screw to attach wires. Inspect element before install to make sure both holes are threaded. If not, drive the self-threaded screw - again before install-to create the threads, and be careful not to break the attached wire as it takes some 'torque" to work the threading screw through. Once 'tapped" you should be good to attach as specified.

A LIFE SAVER!
My Mom's oven is an old "double oven" A Large one on top and a smaller one on the bottom. They were manufactured by Hot Point. Our double oven was installed in the late 70s. Our top over has an upper broil element and a lower element for regular baking. A few weeks ago our lower element on our top oven caught fire and snapped in two. We needed a quick fix and this is the part recommended by a GE Appliance Center who told us it would fit-- IT IS A GREAT FIT! We unscrewed the old element, and this one is the perfect size and snapped right into place. However, where the two sides of the element come together in the back of the oven they are permanently hinged to a new silver plate which did not fit exactly over the existing holes left by the original plate. We had some self-drilling short hex screws, and in no time screwed them through the new holes of the new plate and straight through into the back of the oven to hold it in place. The old-existing holes are covered by the new plate, and everything works. A cheap and quick fix and everyone is very pleased. thank you! THANK YOU!

Easy Peasy
OEM and looks like it was fulfilled from GE. Fits and works as described. Installation was easy (remember to turn off power to the oven). Save some money and do the repair yourself.
