Excellent Pneumatology of Preaching
Spirit Empowered Preaching is a wonderful book. But to understand its value, you must know what it is not. It is not a step-by-step guide to writing a sermon. It is not a manual on going from the biblical text to exegesis to application. It is an excellent study on the Spirit's work in Preaching. It seems his main premise is that the special presence of the Spirit mentioned in various places throughout the New Testament is manifested in the Bold and effective (though not attractive cf 1Cor 1 & 2) proclamation of the gospel. This is an irreplacable tool in the toolbox of the preacher of the gospel. I give it my highest recommendation.

So helpful, this book!
Dr. Azurdia has produced a very helpful book parsing out the proper posture for Christ-centered/Spirit empowered preaching. Especially impact for me was the chapter on the role of the Holy Spirit in holding Christ forward for His people. I will certainly add this book to the short list of preaching books I recommend.

A book for frustrated preachers!
A great read for both the truth of what is written and the honesty of the journey of the author. Many may find themselves where he was and hopefully this book will help them be Spirit empowered preachers!

Best little ugly book.
Best book on preaching I have ever read. Practical and to the point. A must read for all teachers and preachers.

140 Pages to Long -
This book is 3x longer than it needs to be. It seems every other chapter uses pages of block quotes, seriously there are pages of block quotes, reworded truths the previous chapter already covered, and any real depth past the initial points. It is a fine book and truthful but it’s not a great book. At one point it read as if the author believed the incarnation started at baptism. I’m sure he does not hold to this but it reads that way. The last 4 chapters could have been stated in ten pages. There is also a conflated view of debate vs pulpit preaching. These arenas are not the same or for the same intended purpose. I was forced to read these for seminary preaching class. Not a recommended book. Sorry

Great book
Very informative. Arturo has done what a lot of writers fail to do. He has written an informative, academic work that is very interesting also.

Calling us back to what matters
Arturo reminds us of the basics of a spirit empowered ministry. If we don't have the Spirit of God in our preaching, then we don't have anything of lasting value.

Good Stuff
The book looks at Preaching from the pioint of view of the absolute essential point of view of needing the Holy Spirit both in preparation and deleivery. A vital book to any preacher who wants to see lives changed and not just information passed on.
