The 12 Days of Christmas Anniversary Edition: A Pop-up Celebration Novelty Book – Pop up, October 24, 2006

Bought for my 3-year-old who loves reciting the song but he gets confused because the text is different from the versions he hears on the "radio" (whatever streaming service is playing) and his older brother sings. These vary from what we've heard:12 lords a leaping11 ladies dancing10 drummers drumming9 drummers drumming8 maids a-milkingOtherwise, a beautiful book!

I've always liked the jubilee. And singing and working with the song the Twelve Days of Christmas. Where I work teaching it is a part of the culture to celebrate this holiday. One way you can approach that is to take a traditional carol and look at the times it represents, what it is teaching in it's context, how it changed over time. My goodness we learned so much just about colly birds. You might enjoy looking that up if you are an autodidact. So with the traditional song we did work with the ordinal numbers in 1st grade, reversing number order, talking about dozens, the calendar, religious story lines, tremendous reading of the song text, with learning the animals, context, terms, history of the song, we all learned to peck it out on the class piano, we performed it with the Muppet's CD for parents, and we made our own knock off twelve days of something books about an ever increasing list of things awaiting something, sorry I must run to the point of a review here....but one of the pleasure I have is sharing my collection of Twelve Day books. This one I re-ordered, as my first from over ten years ago was beat ragged. It came better than the original. So worth the price.For one thing it's pristine. For another the last pop up, unlike the original actually lights up. It's amazing.I intend to do a follow up pop-up book with them that we make, but we'll do The White House I think. The first graders were so fascinated with the magnificence of Sabuda's design.What you get here are the most fascinatingly complex displays of these caroled period pieces of gifting. My favorite the jewelry box with dancer that becomes the ladies dancing. It takes your breath to see a paper artist work like this. The images of the gift remain in white. It's a design masterpiece.I'm sure this would be a real asset to any collection, but because the paper is so good, the quality so fine, I recommend it be considered for an example of the wonders of paper art.I don't think it necessary to celebrate the holiday to celebrate this, in the way one listens to the work Handel produced to elevate your heart and mind each December-not necessarily in the faith-though it could be so.

This gift was a hit and I had previewed it before I gave it. It’s my favorite one so far in addition to the Hanukkah pop up art book. I gave 4 stars because the condition of the packaging wasn’t too good and there were some glitch in lighting up the Christmas tree on the last page but when it did it was even more impressive. A Godsend!

I’ve given many of these to family and friends. Not suitable for the very young because the beautiful pop ups are detailed and somewhat fragile. My granddaughters have received as a gift when they were 7 or 8 years old but they are very careful. I have also gifted to adults as a holiday coffee table book. It is always a hit.

Purchased used from seller Clickgoodwill and it is in BRAND NEW CONDITION! So much better than anticipated! No signs of wear, pages work perfectly, lights work on last page, and the ornament is even included with the dust cover. The book itself is SO BEAUTIFUL. It is worth the 20 dollar full price!! This will definitely be a specialty Christmas piece in our house!

This book is a pop-up specialty !! I bought 'Good-used,' and was not disappointed. A few edges were bent, but everything was there, and intact. I love it. Had wanted it for years, when I decided to check on Amazon. Glad I did.I will probably get the set from the same author. Amazon is the BEST.!!!!

These pop art are always a treasure to me and I decided to get 4 of it for my granddaughter and 3 great granddaughters so that they could pass on to their families.

The book was beautifully and safely packaged. It arrived before the expected delivery estimated time frame in pristine condition. It is a gift for a family member who collects this illustrator’s work. I think he will love it!

The media could not be loaded.  Im blown away by how beautiful this book is After buying my first Alice in wonderland from Robert Sabuda i just could'nt resist buying again. The Popups are lovely work well on each page. The ending is magnificent Definately buying another

Slightly disappointed with this one. As a fan of Sabuda's other works (like Beauty and the Beast etc) this one felt a little plain. All the pop ups were plain white and just didn't have the same intricacy with paper folds I expected. Saying that it is still a lovely book to be treasured.I purchased a brand new copy, however feel I was sent a second-hand one as the batteries supplied didn't work and some of the pages and pop-ups were a little grubby and bent (in the wrong places). I will be taking this up with the seller directly.

This book is a little wonder. The construction of the popups is amazing and they are surprisingly robust. The surprise of the Christmas tree at the end of the book never fails to bring a smile to people's faces. I think the best one so far. I think you should buy them for yourself and then hand them down to the grandchildren as little heirlooms.

Just read through all the other reviews I cannot better them. I managed to get one of Robert Sabudas books from a high street store and was delighted to find this, and others, available on Amazon. Well worth every penny.
