New and different ideas for street photography.
Just received my book and all I can say is it is FANTASTIC. I love how Brian goes into such detail about each project, not only giving the 'How's' but also the 'Why's. Great book for anyone looking for new and different approaches and ideas for street photography.

A day's read that will keep you busy for a year
I bought this book after it was recommended to me by Amazon. To be honest, I didn't have high expectations as I have a few of these 'assignment' style books and they normally state the obvious. Indeed, some of the assignments are a little pedestrian (e.g. shoot with a 50mm lens or shoot with film for a month) but most of the assignments were novel and challenging. I particularly liked the idea of playing street photography Monopoly -- shooting in every square on the Monopoly board. The book also has some challenging assignments that will definitely get me outside of my comfort zone. Each of the assignments is well illustrated with one or more images -- it's worth buying the book for the pictures alone. This is a short book that I read in a couple of sittings, but I'm sure it's one that I'll dip back into for inspiration. My key takeaway is that street photography works best when you shoot to a theme rather than just take random images on the street and this book will certainly help me achieve that goal.

Great ideas for getting out and taking street photos
This book could last you a full year if you do one project a week. For some of us it might take longer than a year. I'm still waiting to go on one of Brian's workshops (I've booked for Jan. 2020), but in the meantime this book gives me a ton of ideas. Some of them may be familiar, but it's the fact that there's basically a calendar of assignments for you to do that is the real benefit here - at least for me.It's easy to get stuck in a creative rut if you're an amateur photographer. But sometimes by restricting what you do it forces you to work harder. The assignments in this book are a bit like that - they make you think.Whether you're a good photographer, or an average one, I think you'd probably end up better than you started if you work your way through these 52 assignments.

Highly useful
Whether a newcomer to street photography or someone who has been doing it for decades, this book offers many really interesting ideas and techniques to experiment with. The text is very clear and the author gives many useful tips on how to become more confident in taking photographs of people. Each technique is illustrated with at least one example photo and the book is the ideal size to fit in a rucksack if you want to carry it with you when you go out to photograph.A brilliant book.

Recommended
If you can’t be inspired by any of these projects and challenges, give your camera away and take up ballroom dancing.

Makes you think about your Street Photography
I have enjoyed Street Photography for a number of years but tended to stick to the same style of shot. Brian Lloyd Duckett's "52 Assignments" has prompted me to look afresh when out and about with the camera trying different ideas and concepts. Each of the Assignments is well written and illustrated and includes a brief Technique/Field Note section to help guide you through the shot along with a paragraph or two about the assignment. This is an ideal book for both those new to Street Photography and experienced photographers who want to develop.
