Love it .
Love all the info on the origins of Latin Jazz and mambo in NYC . I’m a musician and I’m using this book as a reference guide to all the questions I’ve had over the years of Latin music. Thanks Joe Conzo would love to meet you in person to sign my copy of Mambo Diablo

Bad Book...
Having worked with Tito Puente for 20 Years I found the book to be untruthful and full of self serving memories for many incidents he wrote about ...

mambo diablo- Joe Conzo... Hat's off to J.C.
I can honestly say that this book incredibly- though the author claims otherwise, is not solely about Puente. Joe Conzo gets into very serious & IN DEPTH history about Cuba, Puerto Rico, New York, The music,The musicians, the politics, the history and really describes the settings, ambiente of all the above throughout the era's . Gotta tell you I have read quite a few books on the history of our genre, but as far as the history IN THE AMERICAS of our music this book makes a lot of other books unnecessary. You will see the influence that Cuba, Jazz & Big band's had on the Tito's and Machito. I learned more about Tito,Arcano, Stan Kenton and the development of Tito and our music. This book is like having 4 books in one. Vaya Joe Conzo!

Surprisingly I learned more about Arcano, Stan Kenton, Danza,,etc. in this one book. I heartily recommend it.
