Sow seeds outdoors in 12-inch diameter hills after the last frost when soil is warm. Space hills 6-feet apart in all directions. Can also be started indoors 2-4 weeks before the last frost for an earlier harvest. Cucumbers benefit from consistent moisture. Provide support for vines to save space. Wonderful addition to the garden! (Not to mention adorable.)
These were so much fun to grow! I read other comments from other gardeners regarding the need to "baby" them and kept the seedlings indoors until they were sturdy enough for the garden. (Next year I'll start them a few weeks earlier.) They took a couple weeks to germinate and then needed about three - four weeks before going outside. They were somewhat slow to get going but once they did they really took off. Next time I won't plant so many! Did not realize how big the vines would get. Every seed I started germinated. Only one plant didn't make it - the cat bit the top off. Absolutely growing these again. I made pickles with them, but you can eat them off the vine. They taste like cucumbers with a sour note, which I enjoyed. Plus they're just so cute!! I have a small city garden and mine were grown in containers. They seemed impervious to drought. Being a native to South American I thought they would die as soon as the temps dropped. It's the beginning of December with temps dropping into the upper 30's at night and I still have some on the vine!

Grew very easily I just put the seeds 1 1/2 inch down ...
I planted one seed 1 1/2 down and withing 6 days it came up its been about 2 weeks since i planted it abd its getting close to be being able to be planted in the groundUpdate: alright whoever says they couldnt get these to grow is just a horrible gardener they require literally no maintenance afyer they first sprout these are not dead seeds you just are not good at planting thongs i live in michigan the highest it gets here is 83 and gets down to as low as 60 in the summer so to the people who say they cant frow here is some tips start them in spagnum peat moss when the temperature is warm enough makesure you start then outside do not do it inside or else you wont have good luck make a mixture of peat moss and miracle grow about 50/50 and water it down good i pit mine in a big pot and theu will spend the rest of the summer there if you want to grow them next season harvest some seeds put them somewere were they can climb up try and keep bigs away using used green tea packets and putting them in the spoil put them were they can obtain rain water (I havent had to water them since i planted them) BE PATIENT by doing all these steps i am now starting to produce the fruit.

Very tasty
The seller is a good seller, this batch gave better results than a previous packet I got locally, at seed store. Not sure why, but the store seeds only gave 1 out of 5 seeds that produced a plant, so far with these the ratio is about 4 plants from 5 seeds. Last year I found these a very wonderful addition to my container gardening, they are tasty. Will buy again

Unidentified Seeds
I was SO confused when I received a very tiny plastic bag in an unmarked package with unidentifiable seeds that were missing everything I expect with a seed packet., It's not that I don't enjoy a mystery once & again, but I would appreciate better information, packaging, the NAME of the seeds, etc. next time. I was expecting a package from Seed Savers in Decorah, IA.

Not as Advertized
These seeds (which seemed to arrive from China !), turned out to be ordinary cukes and not the Mexican Gherkins, noted for their olive shape and watermelon-like skin. So disappointed. I have lots of ordinary cucumbers and was looking forwardto adding a new variety to my garden. I started them indoors and they flourished after transplanting outside, so there was no problem with misidentification or germination, etc. JUST NOT THE SEEDS I WANTED !

Every seed sprouted
I am not much on reviewing a product but these seeds was great. I had no problem with germination at all. I started these inside and transplanted them. They climb well with only needing to be trained once at the beginning. I am just now starting to pick the fruit. They do not last long before someone in the family eats them. Will buy more then two packs next year for more of the cucumber like goodness.

I'm satisfied
These are Mexican Sour Gerkins which are small (olive size) cucumbers that look like tiny watermelons. I would not call them sour, just a tad tart, like a very good tasting lemon. In fact to me it has a lemony flavor. Seed delivery was quick. I only planted 2 seeds which spouted. Next time I will more so that I get a larger crop. 2 plants are not enough.

Did Not Sprout
Sorry to say I did not get a single sprout out of this packet of seeds. I live in Florida, kept them watered, used good organic potting soil and- nothing. But don't judge by my failure. Worth a try if you're successful.
