If the price is cheap, the quality probably is too
I bought 4 of these window air conditioners about 4 months ago. They were simple to install. For a while they worked great, but after about 2 months, one stopped working. It still turns on, but it just blows the hot air around. A week ago, this happened to a second air conditioner. I get that buying cheap isn’t always the best idea. You get what you pay for. But 2 out of 4 of these didn’t even make it through an entire season. I’m very disappointed.

Satisfied
Our master bedroom is located above the garage. Our builder did a terrible job HVAC and insulation wise and so that bedroom is always 5-7° warmer than rest of the house. After suffering that for 20+ years, we decided to try this small unit. The room is about 150 sf and this little unit can keep the temp at 70° in the hottest weather.Only cons are it's a little noisy but we got used to that pretty quickly. Also, thermostatic switch is not very easy to set... very touchy. But not a defect, just a compromise at the price point. We have vinyl windows and since we will be selling the house to downsize soon, didn't want to drill any permanent holes to mount it. So I just concocted a faux sash that fits in the opening and then closed the actual sash down on it to hold it in place. Then cut a couple of props out of 1 x 2 to wedge the sash down onto the A/C unit. Works well and we can remove the unit in the fall, without damaging the existing window assembly.

Great Little A/C Unit For A Budget
I selected this model based solely on price, and the fact that it had decent reviews. I needed a small A/C unit for a bedroom, but it did not need to be very powerful or have special features. The Frigidaire fit the bill. Unit arrived in good condition in a strong box. Installation was neither difficult nor easy, just took about 10 minutes to use a nail and make a few guide holes for mounting screws. Make sure you don't grab or touch the back of the unit while mounting, as you will quite easily bend the cooling grid in the back. After setup, I let it sit for a couple hours so the coolant could settle, and turned it on. Splendid little blast of cold air, just enough to cool a bedroom. Unit makes a little noise (As every air conditioner seems to) but that's ok with me because it masks the sound of outside noises. If I needed another unit, I would order the exact same one!

The good news is
I needed an A/C unit for a window with no dedicated-circuit electrical outlet, which meant I needed something that drew as little power as possible. The good news is, this unit has worked effectively for months without tripping a breaker once, even on a 15-amp circuit shared with most of the rest of my appliances. The bad news is, it is very weak. On maximum cool, the air it puts out is tepid at best. I knew its power would be limited at this BTU level, but it's really pretty pathetic. Pointed straight at me from point-blank range it's cool enough to let me sleep, so it's not a total loss, but it's pretty marginal. At the same time I got this I bought an 8,000 BTU-class LG LW8014ER for another room, and the difference in effectiveness is night-and-day. If at all possible, get something bigger.Update: As the temperature rises through the 90s, this unit is woefully underpowered. It's better than nothing, but not by much. I'm downgrading from 3 stars to 2, because if you're buying an A/C, chances are it gets hot sometimes.

Really great, simple no frills AC to keep the cost down.
Really great, simple no frills AC to keep the cost down. This 5,000 BTU Frigidaire AC is used in a medium sized bedroom. It is only needed while sleeping, and can be reached while still halfway under the covers. This means, to me, it's a perfect way to keep the cost down and still get a great AC.All of the knobs and controls are mechanical, which makes it easy to operate in my opinion. The vents let you send the air in any direction you like, which I've had difficulty aiming cold air with much fancier, more expensive models. The volume is acceptable, and pretty typical. It's not quiet, but all of the rattles only last a minute while it's getting up to speed, then it's just typical AC white noise hum.Great unit at a great cost. I would absolutely buy it again for the same purpose, or to cool a garage/workspace/mancave etc. If you need a feature rich unit, something that's super quiet, or a remote, keep looking. Otherwise this is a great buy!

Small and effective for low costt
Bought to cool my studio apartment (25'x20') which is bigger than what the unit is rated for but it does a pretty good job. I run it on high all day and low at night and it stays pretty cool and comfortable. It is probably more suited for a smaller room like a single bedroom but I am happy with it. Note that this unit is for a window that opens vertically. I have a strangely sized horizontally opening window and it didn't fit that well but I made it work (had to get a little creative). All in all, it does exactly what it says it will. The unit is pretty small so it is easy to install. The instructions are vague and it took me awhile to figure out how to assemble a few things but it isn't rocket science. If you want to stay cool on the cheap, pick one up. I found the warranty worth the extra few bucks as well. I have only had it for a week so I don't know how much my power bill will reflect its use, but it says it is energy efficient. We'll see.

this thing is awesome. Mine arrived with no damage and installed with only a few screws. now my upstairs bed room is the temp of a warm igloo. For the money it is well built and cools very well. I looked at units from Walmart and other stores but this one is worth the few extra dollars.

Great cost, effective unit.
Picked this up after the weather started to get a little warm, as my last window air conditioner had been in my home before I lived here, and wasn't working as well as it used to.So far, this thing is fast and effective for a room. I'll try to remember to come back after an entire summer has gone by to fill you in on how well it holds up.Just don't expect it to cool an entire house, that's not what it's made for.
