Sound quality:For $70-80+ I'm not really impressed with the sound quality. For $50 they're ok.Comfort:The largest tips fit best, but they caused the hard shell to press on the back of my ear and caused pain. I switched down one size and I think that helped with the pain, but the sound seemed much worse quality probably because they don't fit as snug.I changed the tips to ones from another brand of earbuds. The largest ones from the other ear buds seem good. They're a more standard round/ball shape, and I think the shape of the Soul BYRD silicone tips isn't great as they don't fit & stay well in the ear.I was almost super disappointed in these ear buds since with the tips they come with they either seemed slightly off-angled to where they hurt, or the sound quality was poor. But after using tips from different earphones they're ok. Overall I think these ear buds are overpriced. At $50, with different silicone tips, they're ok. I'm not super impressed by the sound quality. I tested another $50 earphones (which I won't mention because they had major quality control issues) and they had similar sound quality.I mostly got these so I could use them in bed while lying on my side, and after changing the tips they definitely work for that. So I'm content.

These sound great and are good for side sleeping. I have large, oddly shaped ear canals, so even the largest tips didn't work for me. I used some xl foam tips which worked well after I cut therm down to make them shorter.If you use tips which are too long, they will close up over the driver when you lay your head on a pillow, cutting off the sound.Other headphone I've tried for side sleeping:Jaybird freedom f5: very small and therefore good for side sleeping, but they fall out of my ears to easily and it's hard for me to get a good deal. Also got tired of having to charge them.Panasonic ergo fit: these are almost as comfortable as the soul byrds and sound amazing for $10, but they stick out slightly more and are a bit bass heavy for me. If you're not an audiophile (or trying to be one ) and need something to side sleep with, the Panasonics might work well for you

Simply put ...these are worth owning if you’re looking for a super comfortable wired earbud with pretty good sound for the price. Here are details:Comfort: 5/5 ...I found these to be some of the most comfortable earbuds that I have ever worn and they come with a great selection of custom “bell” shaped silicone tips that seem excellent. They are intended to be worn down, rather than over the ear, so keep that in mind. I wouldn’t wear them for intense workouts, but they’d be fine for walking around, commuting, or office use.Sound: 4/5 ...The earbuds present a pleasant and relaxing listening experience that is a bit “U” shaped. I would compare it directly to Beyerdynamic’s DT770 sound signature, but in a much smaller package, so if you like those then I think you’ll be probably be happy with the Soul Byrds. Their low end is excellent (5/5) and if you like bass you’re unlikely to be disappointed. Their midrange is good (4/5), but I think it’s a bit reserved. Their highs (4/5) are also fairly clear without being particularly sibilant or sharp. Again, the overall sound experience is laid back and should allow for long, non fatiguing listening sessions with all sorts of music. However, if you’re looking for super hi-res clarity or a mid/high focused sound signature then these may not be for you.Isolation: 4/5 ...These block most outside noises, but not everything. As a result they also leak a tiny amount of sound, but nothing that most people would notice unless they’re right next to you in a perfectly silent environment.Additional Notes: ...The Soul Byrds come with an excellent little leather-like, zippered, carrying case, about the size of a wallet, which is a nice touch. I haven’t had a chance to test the inline mic, so I can’t really comment on that yet. The cable is nice though, it’s round and doesn’t seem to tangle easily, which is thoughtful and each earbud is also clearly labeled. Beyerdynamic’s attention to detail seems really good.Direct Comparisons:Soul Byrd vs the Focal Sphear Earbuds ...simply save yourself the time and forget the Focals. Although the Sphears are comfortable to wear they sound awful due to their sharp, piercing, and painful highs, which is why I had to return my pair. I can’t imagine anyone enjoying the Focal’s sound signature (I’m not sure how they’re getting any good reviews) and I’m frankly surprised Focal would offer up such sonic garbage, given their other outstanding headphones. There is a reason the Sphears are 50% off!Soul Byrd vs Klipsch R6i ...this was close, but I had to go with the Soul Byrds, due to their fit and comfort. I simply couldn’t get the Klipsch R6i to seal correctly and they kept popping loose in my ears. If I held the Klipsch in place though, they did produce excellent sound… very similar to the Soul Byrds, but with more mids and greater clarity. If someone could get the R6i to stay in their ears and achieve a good seal then I could see them being superior.Soul Byrd vs Bose Soundsport ...the Bose probably have greater clarity in their mids and highs, but I found them to be significantly less comfortable, so the Soul Byrds win again. Also the Bose aren’t designed to seal or isolate at all, so they leak a tremendous amount of sound and let in the noise from your surrounding environment, which I didn’t like, because it really killed the presentation of the music and my immersion in it. I can see the use case, if you want/need to be aware of the sounds around you, but most people want some sort of noise isolation from their earbuds and the Bose Soundsport have NONE.

Update 4/18/22 - These ear buds are still working perfectly. I wear them, literally, every night when I fall asleep. At some point during the night I pull them out of my ears. There have been no issues with the cable getting loose or weak. No issues whatsoever. After 2-1/2 years of constant use, I can now attest to the excellent durability of these buds.These buds are great. I bought them mainly because I listen in bed every night and I am a side sleeper. These really do fit flush with my ear so they are comfortable even when I am lying on my side.The sound is very well balanced and natural. They have a nice spatial quality to their sound stage. I cannot comment on the microphone because I don't use that feature. The cable seems to be sturdy and stays reasonably untangled. I gave them 4 stars for value because I am cheap - They are definitely worth what I paid.

I couldn’t get a good seal with the provided ear tips, so I got Comply foam tips. These ear buds now sound amazing. Thunderously deep, precision highs, incredibly detailed. These put my Grado SR80e headphones to shame. I don’t know how Beyerdynamic did it, but I love these.

Sound is pretty good, however after only 6 months they are basically not useable anymore. Anytime there is a slight movement of the cable, it triggers the play / pause / next / voice control function in a very random way. Basically they only work if the cable is only completely still, which does not happen when I’m walking, biking, running etc…

Noise cancellation is not a hardware feature but done by the snug fitting od the ear buds. So you are advised to use the correct size from the set supplied. Bayerdynamic is famous for their excellent drivers they use in their headphones. Highly recommended if you want neutral sound. Neutral sound gives you more insight into the vocals and delicate orchestration of wind and string instruments. That's a speciality of the driver used and can be attributed to neutral base (bass response).
