FIRE HAZARD!!!!! DO NOT BUY!!
Bought this as recommended by amazon reviews to use with a mercury vapor bulb for bearded dragon. Within 3 hours of initial use, the lamps “caution light” turned bright red & the lamp was so hot, & started to smoke!! I couldn’t even touch the wire to unplug it! When I called the distributor for my bulb, they told me this type of lamp should NEVER be used with vapor bulbs, despite what the box on the light dome says!! Because I bought it a month before I was planning to use it, (was a birthday gift for my daughter) I didn’t know this would happen & now I can’t return it due to missing the “return by” date. (Which was May 31, it’s now only June 2 & amazon will not take it back!!) EXTREMELY disappointed as I usually trust Amazon & they were wrong on many levels!!

The other lamp fixture had max of 160w and the bulbs would shut off.
Used the Repti Zoo Dome Reptile Lamp with 200watt max for a basking bulb Solar Glo 160w. It works perfectly. No over heating.

Quality and safe product
I bought this for my 75 gallon all glass with screen lid terrarium, for my ball python. I initially was using a smaller reflective dome with a 100 watt max rating on the hot end, but I was not getting close to the temps I needed. So I purchased this so I could use a higher wattage ceramic heat emitter to get closer to the ideal temps I needed for my ball python. This; along with the larger wattage emitter, has helped tremendously! Unfortunately, infighting an uphill battle due to the all glass terrarium and screen lid; both of which are not conductive to maintaining steady temps and proper humidity for the enclosure. However, my temps are much closer to ideal than with the smaller wattage emitter and dome, than this one; which I'm getting temps of 85-90 degrees on the hot end, with temps of 90-95 degrees being optimum. I do still have to most twice to three times a day to maintain 55-60% humidity, but that's a down side to using overhead heat sources like ceramic emitters and bulbs, as opposed to UTH. Outside of that, this reflective dome is great. I've had no issues with overheating or defects in manufacturing. Shipping with Prime was, and always is fast and packaging sufficient. I highly recommend this reflective dome if you're in the market for a higher wattage one, as this one is rated for 200 watts. I'm currently using a 100 watt emitter, but would be totally comfortable with 150 watt, if I needed it. Personally, I tend to refrain from going up to the max wattage, as I'm certain it would shorten the life of the dome. But, that's me. I'm sure that since it's rated for 200 watts max, it can support that wattage, but I'm a bit cautious in that area personally. Again, I highly recommend it, and it has given me no reason to doubt it's quality and safety.

Broke
This lamp fixture worked great for about 2 months then stopped working all of the sudden with no warning. It isn't an issue with the bulbs. This company claims warranty in the Amazon listing but I have yet been able to find how to contact them about a claim. The telephone number leads to the company in China. Beware of the longevity of this item.

Breaks quickly
I ordered two of these lamps, one for day and one for night cycle. From that first order, one of the lamps arrived broken and I had to exchange it immediately. The exchange went fine, however, a few months later and now one of the lamps is broken again. The switch on the lamp feels weird when it's flipped, like something inside is broken. The light flickers unless the switch is held in just the right position. Additionally, these lamps seem to blow my bulbs out very quickly. I am within acceptable wattage and the bulbs are alternated, used only 12 hours at a time and should last me a year each. These lamps blow them out in weeks (previous lamps I had before these did not do that). I am wasting more money on bulbs after wasting money on these lamps. I was hesitant about these lamps due to other reviews, but this is the only deep dome lamp I can really find, so I felt like I had little choice. Now I regret giving in and I warn any others in my situation not to bother. Find a different alternative. Just because they practically own the market on reptile products doesn't mean they do it well.

If you find yourself Changing bulbs alot...change the fixture.
Had another mini dome set (2 as opposed the single unit) was constantly changing bulbs. They would not last 6 months maybe 3. I have two other single style units and this one like the other two I have works as expected...i.e. I am not changing the bulbs out every three months!

Nice and Deep
As a reptile novice, I bought a different Reptile Lamp the first time around and it was not deep enough for the 150W mercury vapor bulb that I had purchased. I was able to use that one for a small, 60-watt ceramic heating element. Then I purchased this one for my 150W bulb that fits perfectly up inside this Repti Zoo 8.5" deep lamp with a bit of room left over. In addition to being large enough for big bulbs, I feel like it is very well made. It has a ceramic base and sturdy metal reflector shroud which allows it to handle up to a 200W bulb. You will like this light fixture!

Best deep dome lamp on the market
You pay a small premium here over clamp-lamps and other, smaller deep-domes from the usual reptile suppliers, but man is it worth it. You can feel the quality in the construction and appearance. The dome is extremely spacious. Would buy again.
