Okay I didn't have any ammonia smell mine smelt fine ... The sliding pad on shoulder strap is completely ineffective as you cannot position it to where it'll center so it's completely useless and it's going to look funny with the black velcro thing that I'm going to put on it that's only thing I really don't like about this bag... but hey except for not having the brand name it's $300 cheaper than the one I really wanted it maybe the end stitches not quite as nice but again it was $300 cheaper I highly recommend this bag as long as you're not an idiot and understand that you get what you paid for I fully expect this bag to hold up as long as I don't mistreat it and serve me well for years to come.... and it looks pretty snazzy if reading this just buy it you can thank me later

I give it 5 stars - even though I didn't actually see it mysel . It was a gift for my nephew, a geology student, who was headed out for a 6 week internship in the Rockies. Thanks to those who reviewed it. He seems to really like it, but he's 20 and likes rocks, so what does he know? My sister, however. who had a vestef interest in getting him there and back with his gear intact, thought well enough of it to have him use it as his one luggage item. No one mentioned whether it was attractive - but a 20 y/old rock hunter on an adventure w/his class (some of whom are women) liked it well enough to be seen with it. So, it must "look Indiana Jones" enough to carry.

I was looking for a quality overnight bag, nothing too big or small. Just big enough for a 1-2 night get away that could hold a couple of outfits, toiletries, and a pair of shoes. I found this leather bag on Amazon. It looked a bit small in the picture but I decided to try it out. It turned out to be the perfect size! Oh, and contrary to other reviews, mine did NOT have the travel strap permanently attached. It is optional. Exactly what I was looking for: a good, quality overnighter for a great price. I’m very happy with it!

This might be a nice bag... eventually. The leather will need some wearing in as it is very stiff upon unpacking. My main problem is that it's pictured with the strap detached but the strap is actually permanently attached. Also, the color looks a lot lighter than in the picture. The stiffness and color may get better after some time, but there is nothing short of cutting it off that can be done about the strap.

Great looking bag and lots of space, The side pockets are great but buckles are a little annoying to deal with . If the manufacturer can come up with some suggestion on how to get rid of the oily smell that would be great.other than that this is a great product.

Just got the bag in the mail today. It has everything that I'm looking for but this smells like sharpies instead of leather. One of the biggest reasons for getting the bag is according to the photo the shoulder strap it's supposed to be detachable but mine is permanently attached. The size, shape, color, is spot on but they screwed up on the smell and shoulder strap.

Smells great, needs to be worn in a bit. Same size as an average Nike Jordan gym bag.

Got this bag from my wife for Christmas. I am a 20 week or so business traveler and got tired of dragging the wheelie bag through airports. I like it so much I am going to order one of their computer / messenger bags for my laptop, etc.It's roomy and functional. The goat leather is lightweight but seems very durable. It is sort of damp and has a slight leather smell when you unpack. That goes away after a couple of days and a quick wipe down.Shipped quickly even though ordered in mid December. Arrived in plenty of time.

The bag was just as described. Well stitched and came with care instructions and suggestions on how to "break in" the bag. Not that the stiffness of the leather was excessive. The only slight criticism was the fact that there weren't enough holes in the belt like shoulder strap, but that was easily rectified. A good quality item at a decent price.

Contained a mothball in the bag, in can't keep the bag in the house it smells that strongly. It's terrible. Looks good quality but it's unusable

I think the product description is borderline to false advertising:The colour is nothing like the picture (think of a cheap monochromatic red/brown: it is worse)The smell is a major problemThe construction is fairly poor (1-2mm sheet of lower quality leather glued together)It arrived compressed in a small plastic bag and was immediately returned after openingStay away!
