Material 5*; Layout 0* - Large Print Version
While I didn't intend to purchase a large print version, I opted for what seemed to be the most recent version. The content is, as I expected, wonderful. The layout, however, is horrible. I don't usually purchase large print materials but with my minor vision challenges had difficulty reading much of this book. Here are a few problems: (1) The text is large type and easy to see, but chapters (and the intro) have charts, graphs, and tables with checklists. All of this material is integral to the content. Many, if not all, of these are close to illegible in their teensy tiny font. (Visit pages xxvi and xxvii, for example, where the table is chopped into pieces with teensy font and the copyright notice is huge.) (2) Pagination needs to be adjusted as well. For example, there are activity headers on one page with a large blank space and the teensy-print table with the activity on the following page with no identifier (for a sample, see pages 42 and 43.). (3) There are lines for the reader to make notes throughout, but they're short compared to the size of the page; they could be extended to the width of the page to give additional writing space or reduce the book itself. I'm guessing this was thrown together quickly to get it to market, but, really, it's disappointing that more attention was not paid to detail to make this an enjoyable experience. Perhaps the Kindle version is easier to read?
