Q: Is the front cover held magnetically when folded back?

Yes it is........fantasic cover

Q: Does the sleep/wake function actually work? I’ve bought loads of cases and all claim this feature but non actually deliver it.

Absolutely, works perfectly. A lot of 3rd party cases claim that it works, and it does on the 9th generation but not the 10th after Amazon moved the magnet locations. This Amazon case works perfectly though, no worries.

Q: Is there any way to treat the leather when it gets dull, without removing the patina/scratches?

I use the autoglym leather balm for my car applied with a cotton wool ball, restored original look worked for me still retained the worn book look but clean
