Ambir nScan 690gt works for Medical ID cards
Easy install. Downloaded and installed latest software and driver first before connecting scanner. Software can be minimized and set for auto-scan and the folder to save to, so as soon as an ID card is placed in the top of the scanner, it will scan in just a few seconds and pop up a scanned image with the option to tag it and then save it in the defined folder. This scanner takes up very little desk space, which is a premium in the health care office it was installed at. I highly recommend the 690GT scanner for quick ID card scanning.

yes it scans 1 card a second but it takes 30 seconds to process it
Ok they tout the speed and i needed high speed to photo 12,000 cards. It would suck the card thru and scan fast, but the file takes soooooo long to save with their crap software. Also they make it hard to buy the premium software, which is just as slow. so i sent it back and scanned using my printer and Adobe which was not as fast to scan but saved quick.I suppose this works fine for dr office scanning an insurance card or two, but the 2 second scan claim is ruined by the slow save time.Oh it'll scan multiple cards into one file, but it literally crashes or is really really really slow to save.dont blame my pc, i have 128gb ram, i7, fast.

Software lets it down
The scanner itself works great, and it is fast. The quality of the scanned cards is good enough for the purpose. The "import to Outlook software" is slightly disappointing and would probably work if it had some A.I. to help. Depending on the layout of the business card, the name, address, etc, may not be populated into the corresponding field in your Outlook contacts, and you need to manually edit or re-enter the information. It also only recognises USA phone numbers, so any international phone number is considered non-valid, and you have to manually enter phone numbers into your contacts after the scanning process. Overall, it helped me scan most of my business cards into my Outlook contacts, but re-editing and re-entering some fields with every scan was time-consuming. Hopefully, an A.I. software update can resolve that.

Fast, small, easy to use!
Great ID scanner - we use for scanning ID's at front desk for check-in at campground, very fast, no jams, good picture quality. Only suggestion would be to develop a better USB power insertion cable, the T-splitter should have a short cable instead of rigid connection (solved using 3ft USB extension cable). Otherwise great!

Extra Purchase Needed!
Beware! You need to purchase the license separately, an additional $50.00! You only get 10 scans before it stops working.

Software sucks to the point it's unusable
The software is absolutely atrocious- Thinks every time you're scanning multiple pages. No way to quickly scan MULTIPLE BUSINESS CARDS, each as its own file- OCR is terrible- Interface is terrible- Speed is actually quite slow

Saves Medical Practice Time and Money
Purchased for busy medical office and my only regret is not purchasing this item sooner. It saves the front desk time and it saves the practice paper and ink from not making multiple copies of cards. The receptionist is in love with the ease of use and as the admin I love that the tiny print on scanned images is so clear. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Works fine but…
Software is a bit clunky and not super easy to use but the scanner works well.I’d likely look at other options if I was to do it again.
