CD reissue. Mike Bloomfield was an American guitarist and composer, born in Chicago, Illinois. He became one of the first popular music superstars of the 1960s to earn his reputation almost entirely on his instrumental prowess, since he rarely sang before 1969. Respected for his guitar playing, Bloomfield knew and played with many of Chicago's blues legends before achieving his own fame and was instrumental in popularizing blues music in the mid-1960s. Taken from two weekends worth of jam concerts at the Fillmore West in February 1969, this album makes features performances by Nick Gravenites, Mark Naftalin, John Kahn, and Snooky Flowers (among others), with cameos from Taj Mahal and Jesse Ed Davis.

This Issue has two unlisted bonus tracks.
I've been searching for this CD (or album) for a long time. Finally found it on Amazon for a decent price. The first time I played it, I enjoyed the songs and before I could remove the CD, another song came on. Track 8 is a 14 min. version of "If I Ever Get Lucky" that is worth the price alone. Fantastic guitar of course and some nice horns. Track 9 is a 6 mim. instrumental that I could not identify. This CD was released in 2017 by Floating World Ltd. Get it if you remember Michael Bloomfield and love his music, you won't be disappointed.

So many incredible shows at one venue!
I'm not always great at writing reviews. Bloomfield's guitar playing is solid, & the guy was a powerhouse of expressive electric blues. This recording captures his fire...as well as any recording can.

Fabulous musician!
I have recently rediscovered Mike Bloomfield, who was a musician in my youth. He is an amazing guitar player. Wish he was still here, but he is in memory. I am collecting his CD's.

Two extra tracks
I bought this CD years ago and just made a habit of removing after the last song. However when I was on a long road trip we were going through a snow storm in the dakotas (go figure) and my concentration was on the road and trying to stay on it. When the last track played after a few seconds another song began and it was fabulous. There were actually two extra tracks for a total of 20 minutes. I found nothing in the notes that indicated that additional tracks were included. Check your CD and let it run. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Love it.
As a long time owner, around half a century, of Super Session I purchased this on a whim. Played it. Loved it. Enough said.
