how does this work on pet hair?

Yes, as a matter of fact the unit is constructed so that all of the dust collection areas can be lightly rinsed or washed.

How long is the hose? and is it easy to use ?

Stretched out, I think its about 10 feet long. And its very easy to use. We use this to clean our church, and getting up under the pews is a breeze.

I have no carpet but I have tile and wood laminate and 4 dogs and 2 cats. Does it work on hard floors with pet hair?

Yes. However it would be overkill. Maybe a Shark Rocket would be better for your use.
