Great cheap alternative to a vacuum pump!
I didn't even known these things existed until I saw a guy on Instructables.com demonstrate how it could pull a near complete vacuum. I had already built the vacuum chamber but the price of a vacuum pump that could pull a perfect vacuum was a little discouraging since I had to do it on a budget. My use for this was to degas silicone for mold making. It has worked perfectly. I had to jerry-rig it in order to use it with a bilge pump from Harbor Freight in a 10 gallon bucket where the water was recirculated. The result was a near perfect vacuum that has served my needs perfectly although it does take anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes to degas depending on the amount and viscosity of the silicone..

I tried several like this and found this one to be by far the weakest performer in spite of it costing twice similar items here on AMAZON.

A great product - for another lab
I think this aspirator pump is built for a lab faucet that looks like this:[...]Unfortunately, these are found in my lab:[...]This pump still fit about half of the faucets in my lab, but would blow off if the water was turned up too high. If I held the pump in place, I was able to get a decent vacuum going.

Great Vacuum
Pulls a good vacuum but make sure you protect from acidic fumes. Burned out the one way valve almost immediately distilling fuming nitric acid so I can't comment on how well it will hold a vacuum when the flow is stopped. Otherwise however it does still work great, but I now put a trap on the vacuum system. My system also runs over 50' through PTFE tubing no problem

Came as described and expected
Product is as expected. On Amazon, the price is a fraction of what it is at a labware store. Creates vacuum as expected.

Inexpensive alternative to pricey pumps
I was looking to pull a full vacuum in a vacuum chamber made from a pressure cooker. Even the cheaper pumps from Harbor Freight cost more than I wished to spend. I bought one of these little plastic aspirator pumps. When it arrived I went to Home Depot and got some thread adapters so that I could attach it to my utility sink. I am able to get full vacuum using this aspirator pump, it takes around 25 to 35 minutes and uses about 40 gallons of water.
