I have used these for years for pea soup. Sautéed carrots diced, diced onion and celery until soft and flavors released. Add washed peas and water and ham pack in peas ( no pre soaking required). I add ham bone or hock, and diced ham. In two hours or less it is great soup. No mashing or blender needed, it is smooth and creamy. Salt and pepper to taste. If vegan leave out the ham. Still great. Soup freezes perfectly for some later. Can not find them everywhere. So happy to see them on Amazon. Last tip I add a heaping tablespoon of Better Than Bouillon Ham Base ( From Amazon) in water to cook soup in, really adds flavor and jar keeps for weeks in frig. once opened. Best pea soup ever!

This brand comes with a ham flavor packet which isn't salty. The dry peas are good quality and clean but of course we always rinse before soaking them. They have become hard to find but found them at WalMart for $1.89 if they are out of stock, so buy several just for backup.

This makes the best pea soup ever. The flavor is amazing. Will definitely buy again!
