A BOOK WELL WORTH A BIG HUG!
Schaps and Rezny capture time and place in a very warm and thought-provoking manner. The interesting element of the book is that it isn't just about remembrance--its about NOW and the future as well. Its about society and culture and the galvanizing element food can mean to community. Food is the great equalize and with care, empathy and respect, both men pay tribute to their past and the communal past of many. It teaches and educates. As human beings we all share a hunger for the intrinsic and rewarding nature of a good strong narrative and for stories such as ones captured in word and image in this book that go to the very core of life. My only question for the authors is, what's next?

Not a cookbook, but great New York Jewish nostalgia
A celebration of Jewish food, it accurately calls itself. It has a few recipes, but it is mostly full of delightful stories, photographs, and jokes. For me, someone who grew up in a Jewish family in the Lower East Side in Manhattan, it was a trip to my childhood.

I have over two hundred cookbooks all I love and this one is up there with the top ...
I'm not jewish and when I first got this book I was looking for lots of recipies. I thought about sending it back and I kept picking it up and found it to be one of the most interesting cook books I own. I have over two hundred cookbooks all I love and this one is up there with the top ones I own. It not only tells you foods that you have only heard the names of but about the wonderful people the Jewish are.

The most important and beautiful book of the year
Aaron Rezny's book has prime space on my coffee table as perhaps the most important and beautiful book of the year. The history becomes revered, the recipes remembered, the stories shared. But the photographs! This is the way we should see food when we dream. And I know what I'm talking about...I am the Queen of Kugel, descendant of the legendary Grandma Dora ! She is kvelling from heaven. Thank you Aaron and Jordan.

What a wonderful book. To those of NYC and/or Jewish ancestry ...
Just got my copy of Eating Delancey today. This New York Irish girl is positively plotzing. Cannot wait to send a copy to my father-in-law -- a lifelong devotee of Guss' Pickles, Yonah Schimmels and everything else from Delancey to Essex Streets. What a wonderful book. To those of NYC and/or Jewish ancestry -- buy Eating Delancey for yourself, or for anyone on your holiday gift list who is lucky enough to claim the same lineage. Immediately.

This beautiful book has great photographs
This beautiful book has great photographs. It brings back wonderful memories of the neighborhood and the cuisine that were integral to the cultural landscape of New York city for well over a century. If you have a taste for NY's cultural past you will love this book.
