Guitar World Presents Dimebag Darrell's Riffer Madness: Book & Online Audio

If you love Pantera and Dimebag, you must have this. If not, there is still so much you can learn from to benefit all aspects of your playing. A lot of good info and exercises and he will also teach you cool tricks, things most guitarists would hold too sacred to divulge. He even teaches you how he did those infamous squeals at the end of Cemetery Gates! He also taught me something about how to harmonize that was so simple yet brilliant and has helped me more than other sources (that are so much more complicated). Also some great info on alternate tunings. He really does simplify so much here.Above all he helps you to become your own person as a player and doesn't stick to any rule but to just go for it and not worry so much about whats going on in the brain or getting bogged down too much with technical stuff (ironic since he has technical brilliance as well, but he admits he doesn't know too many scales, he's amazing).He encourages feel and to do whats right for the song, he seems so down to earth and humble. So few resources out there available in his style, you gotta buy it! You wont regret it.

I have to say this is Top Notch and has incredible insight into the mind and playing style of Dimebag Darrell.You may want to keep in mind that this book is not for those who aren't very experienced players because it's has allot material for those who have a Good understanding of the Guitar prior to buying/reading this book but who want to Shred like the Pro's but however it's entirely possible to buy this book as a new beginner , I will admit you may have a difficult time understanding everything in terms of playing the cords and everything else.this book has a Strong Playlist of PANTERA Favorites and how to play them.the way everything is Explained won't hurt your head as you read it but also it's not Dumbed Down or Watered Down for mass appeal either so that's a Definite Plus!and The Bonus CD is designed to help you play like a pro with lots of practice.the cons this just 1. the pages a few of them at least were stuck together and almost ripped when I attempted to unstick them so be careful.

First off, the basis for this book was the 48 installments that Dimebag Darrell had written for Guitar World. So to say that i would have high hopes is most definately an understatement. Having this book teach some of Dime's greatest riffs, along with solos and technique for warm-ups and certain phrases. I know it kinda sucks that he's not featured on the cd, but you have to think, this Guitar God is the one who wrote 99% of what is in this book. And I mean really, why have him break it down Barney style considering that it's his music to begin with? If you want to learn Some of Dimebag's greatest RIFFS, along with a few good solos, this book is a must. There isn't much focus on Dime's actual style, but the lessons are there in black and white. From facing cover all the way to the back flap, Dimebag's theory on music never changes. Play what feels right and it will sound right. The book is a truly amazing.

This book is an amazing auto biography about the late great dimebag darrell, it has everything from the story of his first guitar, to his death in 2004. It had examples of songs and riffs made famous by darrell and even comes with an instructional dvd to further learn the songs. The only downside is that It has no real sheet music or tablature, it's mainly just an auto biographical book. If you love dimebag and you're fixin to getcha pull this is a great addition to your collection!

Awesome resource; I purchased this along with  Pantera - Cowboys From Hell Guitar Tab Songbook . In his own words, Dimebag Darrell sheds light on his guitar playing techniques, how he attacks some of his most famous riffs, and so on. Includes a CD with some of his licks slowed down so you can more easily grasp his technique, rather than trying to listen along with the albums at his blazing full speed.

This book is absolutely killer for learning not only Pantera songs, but it also has a bunch of Dime's techniques that I never really knew! This book also contains a CD so you can hear exactly what's going on and it helps a lot. I love this book and it was WELL worth the money!

Like some people have already pointed out, this isn't a song book. It's a technique book. And its REALLY well done. Yeah there's tons of tabs for Dime's awesome riffs, but the book is more than that. He'll take you chapter by chapter of different techniques, and riffs/licks that use those techniques. As you work your way through the book, things seem tough at first but as you get going, you feel like you're actually learning new tricks and you'll use those for the next chapter.This book is great. A+
