Does Nothing
I hooked this up to an active CAN bus where my Pican2 is actively reading data. But the LEDs on this device don't illuminate and my windows automotive diagnostics application doesn't recognize the CAN serial line is connected. The vendor will go the extra mile to make sure you've got the driver software. The driver installs, and appears okay. The configuration application doesn't seem to yield any results.Unfortunately, the software appears to be infected with viruses. So, I'm not feeling very satisfied with this purchase.

It didn't work when it arrived - It did not transmit but I fixed it.
I chased the software down from Seeed studio as they sell this as well. I was able to receive, but not transmit no matter what I tried. I then decided to open up the case and inspect things. I noticed that the transceiver IC pin 8 was not soldered on the board and 4-7 were barely soldered. I added solder to pins 4-8 and now its working pretty well.Look into the serial protocol and you can write your own utility to talk over the bus as its just serial to CAN basically

Needs a better driver I guess.
It's seems to work but the driver wasn't recognized by the programming software for my motion controller. I bought a Peak unit and it connected up immediately. It's not worth returning, I'm going to keep it our development department and debug it later down the road, when I have time (HA)

Worked once
After 30 minutes sitting on the CAN bus of a car and capturing frames, the vehicle's info display started resetting. After isolation testing, it was found that this tester develops about 2.5v across the CAN-L and CAN-H leads. The vehicle is used, but well-maintained and does not have any electrical problems. The software is buggy (stop buttons do not work - don't click "set and start" then try to change the # of frames to receive). There are two COM port settings: On the device and what the software expects. For whatever reason, these settings have to be specified manually. So, you have to short the default pads on the board and change the software's settings, connect the device, select something from a drop-down and change another redundant setting. The only saving graces here are that the device is small and the software can export an .xls file of captured frames.Otherwise, it is not stable, and has caused instabilities when in "Silent" mode.

Works great, and the seller has an awesome software/documents package if you contact them
After receiving the product I contacted the seller about the product drivers. They sent me the drivers with an awesome software package and a bunch of documents on how CAN systems work and how to use the software. They were somewhat poorly translated, but still helped significantly with my project. My only complaint is that I think the company should include a slip of paper that contains the link to download this material. It would have made things a bit easier, and I would have been able to hit the ground running once I received my product.

Never worked not even once...
I've bought two of these on separate occasions, hoping the first was defective. Never once have got these to work. They will send messages into your canbus, but it's never worked to monitor. Went through every setting, baud rate, and network setting. You're better off spending up to get the Microchip brand, an actual industry standard unit, for $100.
