Great alternative to Trail Tech
Just installed first one and it actually seems a bit nicer than the TTO but definitely as good and half the price.

Seems to be water resistant as stated. Working fine after getting wet many times while washing my bike.

Would not register RPM
On 4 stroke you must rap sending wire around coil also it stated that RAM is usually displayed lower than actual. Also it would not display all functions. Not worth the time or money. Basically look elsewhere because you will not be pleased with this unit.

Uhhh ... I want to love it, but ...
I hope this unit works out okay. I bought it to repair small 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines, generally with one or two cylinders. The unit is indeed inexpensive. I get it.But on fist impression, the manual is a disaster of broken and poorly-proofed English. It is downright unintelligible in some places. Secondly, it goes on and on about (I'm paraphrasing) ... if the [tachometer] is inaccurate (too fast or too slow), wind the cable more or less times around the spark wire until it IS accurate. Are they kidding? You're supposed to know this -- how? They claim a published accuracy percentage. How did they derive this if the accuracy is arbitrary? The reason one would buy an inexpensive unit is because they don't own or have access to an expensive and accurate one to check the inexpensive one by. And if knowing the RPMs was genetically intuitive via one's DNA, you wouldn't need a tachometer in the first place. That's what THIS unit is for. Absurd. It makes the unit a toy.Thirdly, the display is not backlit, so it's quite dim in indoor light. I knew this going in, but it is VERY dim. If outside, it is readable, but in a garage or shop situation, less-so. If you want a great display, buy a backlit display unit, not this one. If totally outdoors, this one is okay.Fourth, the battery is completely non-serviceable, so you toss the unit when the batteries die, whenever that might be. Fortunately, the display is not a big drain on the batteries, evidently. Maybe someone has a tester to tell when the batteries might die?The good point is that it is smaller than expected, yet it feels fairly substantial, weightier than one would think it is. It has lots of features, but most of these are useless for repair work. The finish makes it seem fairly well-made.I'll hang with three stars until I have reason to raise the rating, which would include a great instinctual revelation that this unit is accurate, not inaccurate... or if I find a buddy who has a known accurate tachometer to test it by, side by side -- in the exact same test configuration. If confidence goes up, I'll revise my review rating; if not, it's going back.U[date: The tachometer indeed makes numbers and appears to work. I cannot vouch for it's accuracy. Use the white portion of the cable to wind.
