A Man Pan,
I have been buying swiss diamond skilits for many years, one like this last me for about two years before it gets to be to much of a pain to fry in. Of course I do not follow directions and only use wood or plastic utincils, I use steal forks and what not to cook with. A pan from wal mart will last me about 3 months, so there you go, swiss diamond is tough, it is as close as you can get to non stick cast iron, I love the weight spreads out the heat well and it pretty well stays put on the burner, other expensive copper or aluminum pans are not as non stick as swiss and they certainly wont last as long, I use the pan every day, I cook breakfast and supper in it, I have never used it in the oven but it says you can, The price is ouchy the first time you buy one but you soon realize it works out to be a good price if you have to go through 10 wal mart pans to make it two years, if your careful this pan could last a lot longer, I am very rough on my pans, I also use a scratch pad most of the time to wash all my pans and dishes, so that hurts them too,, save your lid from your first pan that way you can save40 or 50 bucks on the next one, I am using the same lid from 4 pans ago I think. Great pan, holds a lot, nothing sticks, buy it and enjoy a man tough fry pan big enough to feed the family from.

The hands-down best non-stick
This heats perfectly evenly, cooks wonderfully, looks great, and I believe you could burn glue in this pan and it would wash out with cold water and a couple of swishes with a brush. The non-stick, which is not Teflon, covers the inside AND outside of the pan, except for the very bottom that sits on the heating element, so you don't have drips burning onto the side that won't come off. And absolutely nothing sticks to this stuff--I cook almost everything without oil or fats of any kind, and I have used one of these pans hundreds of times to brown onions, sear meat, melt (and burn) cheese, and even "fry" eggs with no oil. Nothing sticks, and everything rinses right off. The lids are tempered glass, with a valve under the center handle that lets you let off the steam or keep the pot sealed. The handles are very comfortable. I think the pans and the lids look terrific, even if they aren't highly polished stainless or chrome (and how long does that high polish last?). Two caveats, both of which are in the instructions: keep the heat below High (on an electric, the element should NEVER glow red), and make sure there are no traces of food on the pan before you use it again. Little smears that you don't quite see when you've just washed the pan, but you can see when it's completely dry, can cook onto surface and reduce the effectiveness of the non-stick, and can cause discoloration. And you don't need to cook over blazing burners like they do on the TV shows--I get great results at moderate heat. Besides, I don't have a crew to clean my crusty pans when I'm finished cooking like the TV chefs do.

Eggs slid right off. With ZERO oil.
I have several pieces by this make, and they don't disappoint. The little pan passed the "sliding egg" test with flying colors. Don't overheat it, and it will last forever. They are really durable. I found 2 small sauce pans and 1 larger pot in a thrift store, used for quite a while, and they're still very much non-stick. I think I'll "stick" to the brand as long as it is made in Switzerland. Great quality. Try to catch it on sale, though, because it is pricey.

No warranty on these pans if you cook with them.
I bought this Swiss Diamond frying pans about 7 years ago. The surface has failed, and I tried to return this pan to have it replaced under warranty. As it turns out (according to them) I used the pan improperly (by trying to cook with it?). Here's what they sent: The darkening of your pan's surface and/or base indicates the pan was damaged through overheating over an extended period of time. This will cause the nonstick surface to deteriorate and the base of the pan to become blackened which does void the Limited Lifetime Warranty on Swiss Diamond cookware. The pan also shows signs of carbonization. When oils are not thoroughly removed off the surface after each and every use coupled with high heat, they can bake into the coating, creating a brownish hue and cause the pan to permanently lose its nonstick abilities. Your monthly maintenance should include a deep cleaning to avoid this from happening to another pan: mix baking soda with water to form a toothpaste-like consistency, spread generously over entire surface, cover with Saran Wrap and let sit in a dry area OVERNIGHT. This breaks down the buildup of oils sitting on the surface before they bake in. I also sent in claims for two other pans and got the same boilerplate message. They are very ordinary pans, and work well when you apply heat to them. However, if you actually try to cook with them with heat, that apparently voids the warranty. And BTW, none of the procedures they suggested were disclosed when I bought the pans. It appears with normal use, these pans become unhealthy in 3-4 years.

This frying pan is magnificent. I saw the negative reaction on this website and just had to comment. I have had my pan for about seven years now and ok it has aged ... but it is still largely non stick ... a quick swish with a nylon scourer and tiny drop of Fairy cleans it. I have since bought this pan as a gift for others and they are amazed at how special it is. It is the best available and lasts for y-e-a-r-s. Enough said.
