most grammar books sort of peter out towards the end. The last section of the book is brilliant, especially when it dissects the tone of the declaration of independence.it is also an excellent basic grammar and punctuation reference.

I'm not much of a writer, so naturally I only bought this because it was required for a class. It is in fact quite readable, and has many good ideas in digestible chunks. It is particularly good at pointing out where the simple rules most of us learned in school don't apply, or at least can be broken for good reasons.My wife, a much better writer, is now reading the book, and seems to find it useful as well.

I bought this book as a required reading for a writing class and I actually ended up taking away very useful information that I now use in my writing. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to improve their writing
