I am not sure on the 1200 I am using it on the MT Vernon model. You might check you owners manual or contact the manufacturer and see if this works on your model my guess is it will but that's only a guess.

does anyone know what the Er 6 code means on the remote ?

More than likely it means your remote is trashed. I made the mistake of leaving the batteries in remotes that ended up leaking and permanently damaging both remotes. Had to buy a new one each time.
