Great choice of poles
Love these poles - they are lightweight and very easy to handle. While on trails other hikers are constantly complimenting the poles. In the spirit of full disclosure, we had a problem with one set of poles -- the levers on the thumbscrews broke after just two easy hikes. We contacted Blake Pro Gear via e-mail ... the company stood behind the product and quickly replaced the poles under the warranty. Their support person showed a great amount of concern for our situation and followed up several times to make sure the replacement poles arrived safely, that we are happy, and that no other problems have occurred. While it was disappointing to have an issue with the poles, it is more important to see top-notch customer care in action. They earned the 5-star rating.

- light weight as described - handle foam feels ok - sounds like a carbon fiber pole when tap - the locking ...
I had a high hope of this product especially for theanti shock mechanism but end up with a same day return even without a field test on the trail.pros:- light weight as described- handle foam feels ok- sounds like a carbon fiber pole when tap- the locking mechanism is good especially the metal nuts- rubber tips looks good and even equipped metal washer insidecons:- the anti shock system is poorly designed, on one of the pole is even stuck in the handle(see attached screenshot for detail)- the mark for anti shock is opposite, when you turn it to OFF, the spring is working...- the surface paint of the pole is very cheap and rough, some of them were already scratched out and make me thinking I've got a refurbish product(see attached screenshot for detail)- the position of the compass was wrongly designed, it will be right in the middle of your palm when you are holding the strap in normal way(see attached screenshot for detail). You can not adjust the position of the compass without destroying it.I wish this product can be improved.

hiking or backpacking? you have to have this!
Pole is a pole right? Wrong... This pole is a carbon fiber tank. I only weigh 170 but backpacking the badlands i ended up puting all of my weight on this more than once with it never even bowing. Wont go so far as to say this pole saved my life but it sure saved several layers of skin on more than one occasion. I was very impressed with its performance and even after the beating I gave it there are only a few small scratches. Doubt I will ever have to replace the two I bought but if I do, you can be sure I will be getting another set from Blake Pro Gear. Did I mention there is even a very long warranty? You get a complete set of different boots with it too so sand, snow, ice they have you covered.

Seems to be well-made well thought out and should hold up just fine
Seems to be well-made well thought out and should hold up just fine: this is our first set of trekking poles so I don't have a lot to compare them to. I wanted to wait to rate this product till after we made a couple hikes using them. We just hiked Buzzard's hill via Appalachian trail in Virginia as well as Piedmont Overlook Trail in Virginia We adjusted the trekking polls at various times during the hike Using the markings on the polls that are very nicely marked easy to read. it takes just a second to adjust to different lengths depending on the terrain. They give you two different bags which is pretty odd however neither one of them would house the polls when extended. The polls come with a wide assortment of tips which is just great. You get what you pay for and I'm definitely happy spending the money on these polls. Very light and comfortable definitely recommend!

Not for serious hiking (but seller seems reasonable about support)
At first glance I was really happy with this purchase. The trekking poles are good looking, affordable, and include a lot of extras: several different tip types, anti-shock springs, a compass in the handle straps, and a carrying case.Unfortunately, the poles didn't stand up well to rigorous hiking. I used them on a Philmont trek and during the trek the poles progressively degraded. First, the anti-shock mechanism isn't very smooth, as another reviewer pointed out. You engage or disengage it by twisting the pole but I found they didn't really work consistently even after I engaged them. The mechanism doesn't always spring nicely when you are hiking.Second, the rubber feet on the poles got punctured by the metal tips of the poles. This wasn't a killer as the poles were still usable but that's poor quality control and the tips on a different brand of poles I have did not break in this way.Third, the compass on one of the handle straps popped out mid-hike. You get a compass on each handle strap, so I had a backup. That said, the compasses aren't professional caliber but do work and can provide some basic help in a pinch.Fourth, and most importantly, one of the locking clasps broke when adjusting the pole heights. That's a serious problem because without them in place, the poles won't lock and you'll have a useless carbon fiber pole. When you're hiking 50 pound packs in the back country, you do not need useless things taking up weight. The clasps are made from plastic, so that they broke isn't too hard to believe.I really wanted to like this set, but clearly they cannot handle the rigors of a serious trek. If you need something for light duty exercise walks around the neighborhood, these may be ok, but to have them breaking apart during a 90 mile Philmont trek is a bad thing. The first photo shows the poles have punctured the rubber feet and the feet are now pushed up the pole so the metal tips are the ones that will make contact with the ground. It also shows one of the four locking clasps have broken off.The second photo shows where one of the handle strap compasses fell out.UPDATE (27-JuL-16): After seeing this review the seller did contact me and offered a replacement set. The seller also informed me some of the issues I had have been addressed in improvements to the product. Unfortunately I could not take the offer as I'd returned the poles. But I wanted to put this update in as it is a positive that the seller will try to make amends if your poles don't work out. I've bumped up the rating one for this good behavior on the seller's part. But for you that claimed this review wasn't helpful and didn't bother to say why in the comments, I assure you everything in this review is true. And I was NOT given free product in exchange for a review; I paid for the poles with real money.
