Why mess with perfection last year's award-winning favorite is back with the same look and feel as its predecessor, but with new color options. The footshape toe box lets your toes relax and spread out in uphill and downhill trail conditions while the fully cushioned zero drop platform helps you maintain proper form across long distances. Trailclaw outsole technology features canted lugs beneath your metatarsals for ultimate gripping in gnarly terrain. A removable stoneguard rock protection plate protects your feet from sharp rocks and is removable for use on less demanding terrain.

Good product and delivered on time.
To select the right size measure your foot and then check altra's charts. I got mine 2 sizes larger than I would normally and it's the perfect fit.

Good, with qualifications
Bought a size larger than i usually take but feel fairly small as shallow toecap. Good width for toe splay for my foot with Morton's neuroma but for my foot with a bit of a bunion the lowest laces pull the shoe too tight at the problem area so have had to relace to miss out the lowest eyelets. Very comfortable and light otherwise!

I had to go up an additional half size to my normal running shoe size but these are so comfy straight out of the box

Low profile, great grip, super extra inners, smart design.
Same size as road shoes but feel much smaller. Will give one move run then decide if I feel OK with them. Grip great, loving the stiff extra inners for when the terrain gets rocky.

Altra Superior 2
I love Altra zero drop running shoes. The superior 2 is my favorite yet. I had previously tried the torin, but I didn't realize when I ordered that they were designed for over pronators, thus they didn't work for me and caused knee pain. Not the case with the superior 2. A true zero drop shoe, but with a little more padding underfoot than traditional "barefoot" running shoes. I have previously done most of my distance running ( half marathon and up) in Topo split toe runners and have loved them. I only changed it up because winter is upon us in Montana and I'll want to wear socks for the next 4-5 months until spring hits. Topos have almost no padding underfoot, so in comparison, the Superior 2 is like running on little clouds, that said, it's not so thick that you completely lose the ground feel that most bare footers prefer. This shoe has a nice aggressive tread, good on or off trail. Out of the box I ran a quick 6 miles and no problems, no rubbing or hotspots. Just a super comfy shoe that made me want to keep going and going. The orange color is AWESOME! So cute on, I may just get another pair while they are still available. I know sizing is always subjective, but for the record, my everyday shoes are almost always a 10.5, I usually run in an 11 so my toes don't hit the end of the shoe especially on my longer runs. I ordered these in 11 and initially thought that they may be too big, but once I adjusted the laces for my run, as usual the 11 was perfect. If you were just going to bop around in them I would order your everyday shoe size. Happy trails!

I like these Superior 2 shoes
Overall, I like these Superior 2 shoes. They took some time to get used to the zero drop. By the third time I wore them it was no big whoop. They have decent support and feel sturdy. I am not a runner. I have EDS and am prone to joint subluxation and dislocations. So feeling solid on my feet is a pretty big deal for me. The sole slightly flares out and widens the shoes base ever so. These help me feel like I am not going to roll my ankle. My arch also collapses with weight which results in a significant pronation. These definitely help straighten my ankles. I like the shoes, but so much about footwear is subjective.I wish I felt better about the quality of the materials. I am not sure how long they are going to last. I actually like the color combination on these shoes and I get a lot of complements. I have difficulty using my hands and so I like that I can tie these in such a way that I can slip in and out easily while still feeling secured.I also have a pair of Altra Running Womens Provisioness 2 Running Shoe in Blue/Coral. They are even more sturdy and feel more stable than these, but they are heavy and ugly. The colors are obnoxious and there is something printed at every angle ZERO-Z-DROP, ALTRA, INNER-FLEX, FOOTPOD TECNOLOGY, STABILIPOD, PROVISION 2. It is overkill. They need to improve their design team. I wasn't surprised (after all I saw the pictures) but I really don't like all of the printing on them and as such I wear them less than these. I also use zübits (look them up they are pretty cool) with the Provision 2 because they aren't as easy to slip on and off.So although the Provisioness 2 feel more stable I wear these Superior 2s way more often.

It's difficult for me to say if I like these shoes or not
It's difficult for me to say if I like these shoes or not. I want to like them. The cushioning is really great, just the right amount. They do feel comfortable in general but I feel like I am having issues getting them to fit snugly. I have tried one long run in them and noticed that I adjusted the laces a few times, and it still didn't really feel right. The fabric on top of the shoe started wrinkling up when I tied them tighter, and it seemed like there was too much fabric. During the downhills I kept sliding towards the front of the shoe and after that run my toes kind of hurt.

Worn and not comfy
These were all wrong for me from the second I stepped into the shoe. I was already annoyed because they'd clearly been worn before me. And I don't mean "someone walked around their house in them". I mean "someone walked or ran outside on concrete and there were little marks all over the bottom". If I wanted used shoes, I would have bought them from Amazon used at almost half the price. But they were too big and wide and just generally unsupportive. I usually wear an 8.5 in running shoes, and I bought an 8.5. I think an 8 would have would have worked better. These may be good for someone younger (I'm in 30s) or lighter than me (I'm straddling the normal/overweight line of BMI charts), but for me these went straight back into the box after a few steps.
