Oipps 60 L Plastic Blue Open Top Barrel Keg with Lid & Metal Ring UN Approved Food Grade

This review is for the Oipps 60 L Plastic Blue Open Top Keg which I purchased on Amazon from the seller Oipps.I was looking for an airtight container to store flour in and preferably two 16kg sacks of it since I hadn't been able to make my mind up whether it was best to buy All Purpose Flour or Bread Flour so had ended up buying one sack each of both. I bake my own bread, cakes, tortillas, and various other things, but even one sack of that size was likely to last me at least a few months so I needed somewhere to store it. My next door neighbour has a mice problem and every so often one or two come in for a walkabout in my kitchen cupboards so I keep everything in plastic containers which does prevent them ruining everything in the short time they're about before they get zapped in my electric traps, but I didn't have anything suitable to store this amount of flour in and didn't want to risk a mouse ruining so much flour at once.I looked at various other storage bins first, but none of them seemed suitable for food storage or really that airtight and I have bought pet food storage bins in the past that I know from experience claim to be airtight and aren't. Then I read a review for this keg which stated the person had been able to fit two 16kg sacks of flour in it with some shifting about of thr bags, and it sounded ideal. I measured the size of my flour sacks, the one shown in the photo is a full 16kg sack, I have just rolled down the empty top portion to show the size of the filled part of the sack. The sacks of flour I bought were from Heygates but I'd imagine most sacks of flour of the same weight are of a similar size and it was clear I'd be able to fit two into this keg.I placed my order on a Wednesday at 3PM, and the keg was delivered on Friday lunchtime less then two days later and much earlier than the expected delivery time. I've included a photo with just one of the the sacks in the keg, which takes up the bottom foot of the keg, and as you can see from the photo, you are still left with a foot in depth inside the keg, so could easily fit another 16kg bag of flour on top.I've also included a photo to show the approximate size of the keg in relation to other items, next to my Henry vacuum, although my vacuum is the 15kg version not the original so is slightly taller than the original Henry.As someone who also buys 30kg bags of dog biscuits and rabbit food I'd also say you could fit a bag of those in this keg with no issues, and probably with room to spare. I was a bit concerned about operating the locking mechanism on the top, as some reviews had mentioned it being difficult to open and close, but as long as you remember to take out the 'key' aspect of it first, (see end photos) which is obviously designed to prevent it being opened accidentally, it is pretty simple and easy to operate and gives the confidence that the keg is in fact airtight unlike other containers I've bought in the past. I can't comment on how it will last, as I have only just started using it, but so far it's looking excellent for my purposes.Update - I've been using this keg since May 2020 and it's now November 2021, so nearly 18 months, and it's still in perfect condition and going strong. I've kept flour, rice, pasta, nuts, dog biscuits and duck pellets in it, and they've all stayed in perfect condition, and so far no mice visitors from next door have been able to break into it, even though they have managed to break into my peanut butter jars, pasta and everything else not locked up in the kitchen, which is just a few feet away from where I keep it. I've come back to Amazon to buy another one, as it easily fits the 20kg duck and dog food bags I buy, along with a 16 kg bag of flour on top. Would highly recommend.

I bought this to store water in the garden as a water source for my self-priming pressure washer.The container is very sturdy and stable. No worries about it tipping over when empty. The plastic is thick and strong, and the lid locking mechanism keeps the lid on tight and secure.The circumference of the opening was very slightly bent, most likely during transport, but very unlikely to cause any issues at all. It still holds the water with no spillage whilst closed.

I bought this barrel to enable me to store 15kg sacks of dry dog food. I initially got the 30ltr barrel but it wasn't quite big enough, however the 60ltr is more than big enough for this purpose.The barrel itself is very sturdy and built to last, as is the locking mechanism. This is certainly air tight and there is no problem with the smell of the dog food.I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this product and the supplier. 5 stars all round

This tub is great, it's very sturdy and has handles for making it easy to carry even when fullThe lid closes very securely and is easy to use.Bargain for the price as I've seen other tubs costing much much more for same capacity. Will be buying again if needed.

seems ok but only one issue,because the handles are plastic i can see them breaking off eventually.don't take my word for this its just my opinion and its not been tested long enough to tell.other than that a sturdy unit for the price.

Had this a few years now and its still going strong i bought it to store sacks of dogs dry biscuits in the shed its airtight keeps the biscuits fresh and dry its really sturdy aswell

This is the 2nd container I have bought. 1st one was a little small, (my own fault for not checking capacity correctly). But both products were top quality and are extremely well made. We use this to store dry food for our dog (a Great Dane so he eats alot!) and the food always comes out fresh. He's clever and knows where its kept but can never get to it. Container doesn't smell or contaminant the food in anyway. Highly recommend if you are looking for a secure air tight container. The colour is just a bonus!

Large, sturdy, air tight and cheap. I couldn't have asked for more from this product.I use it for all my fishing bait to keep them fresh and keep the smell from driving my wife crazy. Great product and an attractive price point.
