TEKTRO CR720 Cyclocross Cantilever Brake Set Front and Rear, Silver, ST1413-SILVER

If you have installed Cantilever brakes before, you know they are a royal pain in the ass. You will spend hours trying to get them just right. These breaks I just put on and go. The level of adjustability is amazing and I have VERY good break power. I put these on a tandem bike and these things can stop 300 pounds no problem at all.

These operate well once set up. Super pain in the arse to set up. I don’t love some parts of the design. Specifically the yoke / triangle part (excuse me not knowing the terminology). The alan key side of the equation is a bolt that doesn’t spin due to the design. Not sure why it’s even there. So tightening is done with a small adjustable wrench on the opposite side. I’d much rather be able to tighten to spec with an alan wrench.Also the cable routing in this same part gets congested. You really have to force it to route the way it was designed.It’s hard to explain exactly what I mean, but just know, the setup is not the most fun time.That said,The braking power is awesome! The aesthetics are fantastic. And the price for both front and back brakes is really competitive. I put mine on a vintage MTB build I did. I’m very happy with these in the end. I’d certainly purchase again.

Installed these on a 1995 Diamondback that I am converting to a dropbar all-road bike. Set up is straight forward and they are fairly easy to adjust for the correct toe-in of the pads. Look to be quality built, time will tell. Good feel and plenty of stopping power although I am lightweight.

Replaced Shimano Ultus armsThese are superior by a large margin!At least double the mechanical advantage,Crisp, powerful stops.My set came with one over sized bushing....Filed down the bush, all set.Set up was easy, all adjustments available for correct position.Really.....super powerful breaking!

Installed 'em and they are working perfectly. Very reasonable price.

This is my first time at building a bike by beginning with just a fork and frame set and am learning a lot about all of the many parts/components needed. Brakes are one of those must-have items and many online reviews give the CR720s a high rating but cantilever brakes are an older technology and most of those reviews were several years old which in the bicycle world means they might not be available for much longer so I got a set while available. These have forged aluminum arms and they look nicely made.

Der Look der weit ausgestellten Hebel ist Geschmacksache, ich mag ihn. Gut gefällt mir die Klemmung in der "Brücke", die das horizontal verlaufende Seil fixiert. Dadurch ist die Bremse besser einstellbar als die Bauart, bei denen das horizontale Seil nur "eingehakt" wird. Ich nutze die Bremse an meinem Stadtrad mit 105er Bremsschalthebeln, die sind einwandfrei kompatibel.
