My Private Parts are Private!: A Guide for Teaching Children about Safe Touching

Great resource for parents and professionals
My private parts are private is a essential book for parents and professionals who work with families. Mr. Edelman's simple, yet clear message makes it easy to talk about a topic that often times is seen as taboo or uncomfortable. The illustrations enhance the message, and drive the points home. The book kept the focus of my 4 & 5 year old (no small task).

Perfect for the whole family!
Informative...I read it with my 7 year old, easy to understand, and we like it a lot. It really addresses the importance of inappropriate behavior in a way a child can understand. I am sure we will read it many times!!!

I think it's a good way to keep kids engaged in the story
Cute and kept my kids engaged. Every page has a "spot it" section where they ask the kids to find little objects within the picture - despite not relating to anything in the book, I think it's a good way to keep kids engaged in the story. The only reason I gave it four stars is because someone had the bright idea to ship it in a bubble envelope along with my printer ink cartridge and it got very bent up and out of shape.

Bad messaging!
Certain pages almost make it seem like it’s permissible for certain people to look at their touch kids privates, this is a really dangerous message. Especially because the book doesn’t follow it up with “when I’m hurt” or “if I have an injury or need help cleaning.” For young kids, that’s dangerous. Need clearer messaging like “no one is allowed to do ___, not even my family or parents! They can only help wipe, clean, or if I’m hurt someone I trust can help”

Great book for primary/ pre school children. Simple & easy to understand
Easy to help teach safeguarding safe & non safe touching, without having to do sex education. Helps children identify where they shouldn't be touched & tell someone trusted if they're worried. Fills gaps in some books where they only talk about stranger danger. Non scary. Highly recommended family book
