Modern Bonsai Practice: 501 Principles of Good Bonsai Horticulture

Starting A Fight In An Empty House
Disappointing. Poorly worded, scattershot, arrogant and at times contradictory, this is a hard read. It's a book that tries too hard to show off how clever it is and ends up tied in its own knots. No woody pun intended. Little in this book takes the reader down the road of inspiration or enlightenment and it maybe even achieves the impossible of turning bonsai practice into something joyless and dour. On the plus side the Walter Pall photographs are exactly the opposite: about a third of the book is a delightful gallery of gorgeous miniature trees which seem completely at odds with the written content. A strange oddity.

To much information
A good book if you understand chemistry, photos not good look like they have been printed at home on a cheap printer with cheap paper rather pricy.

Heavy going but is full of good info
Not an easy read by any means but it covers a lot of ground worth persevering with.
