So if you are looking for an exact replacement for q-tips this may or may not be the product for you. Nothing smooth and non-absorbent is going to be.That said, I did NOT buy this for ear wax removal. So I can’t speak to that.I bought this to make it easier to apply some coconut oil to my ears or nose during the winter months & keep the skin in there moisturized. This does the trick for that, is washable and doesn’t have the harshness of bleach and chemicals in most cotton swabs.It’s a steel rod with silicone outer coating.Because it’s not bendable I can’t do the silicone test where you pinch/bend it to see if it really is true silicone (if it’s not true silicone it would show white where pinched) but it’s still better for my purposes less toxic than swabs.I’d buy it again but it’s also probably not what everyone is looking for.
