The Secret Soldier (A John Wells Novel Book 5)

This series just seems to get better and better. Bererson not only writes exciting stories with a clever and tough as nail die-hard type hero, but he also educates the reader about the geopolitical situation in the countries involved in the story. Okay, once in a while Wells gets lucky and finds something like a terrorist cell or camp in a little over-the-top in cleverness and gets a bit unbelievable, but I never tire of his reluctant willingness to take a life in defense of his country or innocent people and his do-whatever-it-takes to get information. Great story.

Berenson writes action well and spaces it so that we're not running at full throttle from start to end. The focus on the issue of succession in Saudia Arabia is a worthy umbrella covering the action and the continued focus on Wells as a Muslim by belief is a welcome addition to the men of action genre. Berenson's work won't lead to world peace but he deals with issues that deserve reflection.

Berenson continues the John Wells saga with the same entertaining writing. Berenson devotes a little more time in describing the Wells character so readers can empathize. This makes Berenson's spy novels a little more complex and a little more enjoyable. He still includes the necessary action and thrills along the way. I will certainly continue reading the Wells novels.

I'VE BEEN READING ALL THESE BOOKS...SAME CENTRAL CHARACTER...SAME THEME...SPY STUFF...BUT BERENSON DOES A GOOD JOB IN THINKING UP PLOTS THAT ARE PLAUSABLE AND ENTERTAINING. I AM NOW NEEDING A BREAKIN BETWEEN READING THE ORIGINAL ONES, BUT LIKE THEM WELL ENOUGH TO CONTINUE READING.

I love his character John Mills. He is aging like some of our other heros like Mitch Rapp, and they will need to find a new batch. I think this was a great book, all of Berenson's have been. Yes I would recommend

Berenson is a top self writer. Good dialogue. Fast paced story. Mostly believable.He hasn't disappointed me yet. Try this writer...you'll like him.

Just read this for my book club; never read the author before. Good read, will probably sample more of Berenson's books.
