prefabulous;wish it had more info on attaining and more in between sized houses
The book has beautiful pictures; most of the houses are very large and not really what I would have in mind. I would have liked a book with more moderately priced homes, with personalization, high attention to minimal purchased energy consumption. Since we live in an area with cold winters and lots of snow, more houses in this type of climate would be more useful to me.It does give an idea of what is available, other than than (the old) very basic ranch.I may be able to use some of the ideas in it, in that regard.

it does offer good advice on what to look for in a manufacturer
It was not exactly what I was looking for. Way too many modern examples and a heavy focus on pre fabulous options; however, it does offer good advice on what to look for in a manufacturer. The price was far lower than the brick and mortar stores.

We are in the process of transitioning from an apartment ...
We are in the process of transitioning from an apartment to building a new home. For us time is of the essence, therefore expediency is a priority. Learning about pre-fab homes is part of due diligence, therefore you take advantage of the resources and references of those who have gone before you.Prefabulous is one of the resources we chose to advance our due diligence. The book incorporated many enlightening tips and information while illustrating the point.

INFORMATIVE AND WELL-ILLUSTRATED
I personally like this book very much as it has many homes that one would never guess could be prefabricated! There are many great photos of each house in process and then finished. Gives you a very good idea of what it takes to build one of these homes and I personally find it attractive in terms of future projects in home building. Wide spectrum of architectural styles. Nice book!

Lovely book. Great projects with good photos. Limited info on how to get your prefab approved by the local building department.
This is a great wish book. Lots of pretty pictures and info on manufacturers. However, talk to your local building department before falling in love with a prefab house. Every area is different, and approval can take months if not longer. Many building departments are unfamiliar with these projects, and some see this as taking business from local builders.

Just OK
I wish I could gush over this book, but it's mostly a book of pretty pictures, as others have said. There could have been more meat and potatoes such as what the clients faced in building with modular and companies, costs involved and who can help with a west-coast project (which is exactly why I purchased). These days I can get pretty pictures off the Internet. I wanted more solid information from a leading "expert". Can't argue with the pretty pictures, however.

Open the Door to New Ideas
As a reader who hopes one day to build a home, PREFABULOUS by Sheri Koones opens the door to ingenious, fresh ideas. After pouring over this book, you'll question why anyone would NOT build a home constructed of pre-fab materials, especially after learning that this sort of smart building isn't just faster and often cheaper, but far more environmentally responsible than conventional methods. I recommend this book to anyone intereted in contemeporary architecture and design.

not enough manufacturers' plans featured.
was hoping for something more extensive in the way of floor plansbut this is probably good for a beginner. is somewhat comprehensive. features a lot of photos of finished interiors.
