Helping others learn about saving with Suze
In my husband's work, he takes on students who have graduated from college and are doing a year internship in hospital admin. He talks to all of them about their finances and what they are doing with the money they are earning. He has given this book to them as an easy to understand personal finance guide. He believes as part of his job he should guide these new grads on how to save now for retirement and those unfortunate episodes in life where a nest egg and rainy day fund are crucial. Many listen to him and keep in touch and years later tell them how they are doing with what he taught them. The ones who listen are financially well off and the ones who don't are still strapped with credit card debt and other money issues.

Read and take Heed
I wish this book was available to me when I was 20 years old, I certainlywould have done some things different in my financial life. When we are youngwe are given all sorts of advise, on right and wrong, relationships, jobs, education etc.But No One tells you what to expect in later years and what to be aware of and what toplan for. Suze has done that and so much more in her book, "The 9 steps to Financial Freedom"Our relationship with money clearly determines the kind of life a person will lead. Apart frombeing told to save for a rainy day, no one ever explains why. Having grown up with the bare necessities and barely enough of that, I squandered my first pay checks on clothes, shoes, going to have my hair done in a salon and any other frivolous things a young women can squander on. at 18 years old I was working 3 jobs in 3 different places as a waitress and neversaved a cent. I was living on my own in NY renting a room and on my day off I would go to the salon and have my hair and nails done and dress to the nines for my evening out. I didn't sleep much in those days, after all I was young and beautiful and I was going to meet my prince charming somewhere. Then I got hit with walking pneumonia from working so hard, not enough sleep, poor eating habits etc. After being in the hospital for 2 weeks I came back to my rented room only to find out, it was no longer my room and they were holding my clothes hostage until I paid the back rent that I missed while I was in the hospital. Of course I didn't have it, because I always spent every cent I made and didn't even have a bank account. Luckily I wore uniforms at work because I didn't have any other clothes to wear, I slept in the back room of one of the places I worked for a while and saved enough money to pay what I owed on the rented room and get my clothes back. By then I was only working 2 jobs putting in a lot of extra hours and became a squirrel with my money, saving what ever I could from my meager pay and tips.I learned a life lesson at that time but still had no guidance, I did the best I could and as time went by I met my prince charming, opened a bank account got married and had a couple of children and explained why the relationship with money shapes your life, the good, the bad, and the ugly. So when I read Suze's book it was like my life's story only much more sound and in depth advise. I have read all her books, watched her dvd's and passed on the information she so eloquently put together. Through her advice I have a will, a health directive, living will and am in the midst of setting up my revocable trust. So yes I most defiantly would suggest that everyone read her books and tailor her advice to their own needs.

Great book, but numerous typos in the Kindle edition
I have had this book on my nightstand for years, but have avoided reading it because I feared I would get a bit of a scolding for my financial habits and I was also worried that it would be too dry to read before bedtime. After buying a Kindle, this is the first non-work-related book I've read during my commute. This book is suprisingly easy to read. There are lots of anecdotes to keep the topics interesting and relatable. The information in this book is invaluable. But I have to say, I am shocked at the number of typos and editing errors! This book has been out for a LONG time, yet there's an instance on just about every page of two words being smashed together without a space between them. Not only that, but I've counted at least 3 times where double-negatives have made a sentence non-sensical, or where a sentence cancels out what the sentence prior to it states. What? Did anyone edit this book for Kindle? This criticism is in no way aimed at the author, but the publisher. Please have another look and correct your work. You should be embarrassed.

Great guide to ALL aspects of money
While I'm still on my road to financial freedom, it's remarkable that in the short time of reading this book I've been able to make significant changes. Initially I bought this book because I was frustrated with my paycheck to paycheck living and HATED it. Since reading I've been able to contribute more to my 401K, add to savings WHILE still paying down my debt. I didn't receive any kind of raise, didn't come into any additional money, but by following the advice given in this book I can say I've made positive changes to how I handle/manage my money. I highly recommend for those wanting to know more about all aspects of money: saving, investing, planning, budgeting, etc. Suze's real world examples make it easy to understand her message and in turn make the necessary changes in your own life.

Decent but missing student loan debt tips
Overall, this is a good read on some basic financial tips, and I did reorganize my approach in a few areas to get my finances in better shape as a result. However, the book has one glaring omission: how to deal with student loan debt. Although a fair chunk of the book deals with consumer credit card debt, the book is silent on student loans, which are strangling millions of Americans. Because its such a common problem, this is a topic that should have a section in a book about how to stop worrying about money and achieve financial freedom.

J'adore

A classic in the genre
great tips, good basics for anyone interested in personal finance. Most this is not applicable to anyone living outside of the US but most of the common sense approach the book takes is applicable regardless of domicile.

interessante
Suze Orman sa quello che dice anche se, anche li, si perde molto in cose che poco hanno a che vedere con la vera libertà finanziaria. Troppi esempi di "americani" che si comportano come vuole l'autrice... parte bene, poi annoia un pò...
