Perfect upgrade for GT 29er
Swapped out the 16t for this 18t and the pedaling effort went down immensely. Recommend for those who have a 29" GT pro performer and just want to cruise.

Absolute junk waste of money.
I tried everything to get this cog to work on a single speed mountain bike. I changed everything but the cog and adjusted chain line multiple times. After a search on the Origin 8 torq lite cog i found out other people had same issue with the chain leaving the rear cog while pedaling hard or after riding over rough terrain while pedaling. I can't return it as it waited to long trying figure this thing out. Unfortunately i purchased two as i have two single speed bikes :(. I hope i just saved you money and injury. Purchase the other steel cog (Su(*^ly). I tested and it works flawless.:)

Nice design. Smooth looking.
The best part of this cog is the wide base. Not only engages better on the free hub but also prevents tearing the splines. At the same time, it isn't gonna move sideways compromising the flimsy spacers. Here I mixed some aluminum and steel ones. The cog is fixed in place with a regular Shimano lockring. Steel is always better to keep things where it should.

Exact replacement for worn cog.
Perfect replacement for a worn cog. Smooth drive train now. New chain and front chainring was not enough. Replacement of same cog after over 8000 miles.

Not glamorous, but durable.
This isn't the lightest, or blingiest, or most expensive (or even least expensive) SS cog you can get, but it is durable, and it does get the job done. I wore one of these out, and replaced it with something that was supposed to be better, but that cog proceeded to fold on me while going through a technical rock section. So I'm back to one of these, and if it lasts the 800 miles or so the last one of these did, it will continue to be a great value.

Somewhat Durable, but not a good design
So.. this cog is about the cheapest stainless cog you can find. That’s about all that’s good about it. It’s extremely thin and it’s stamped, not machined. The foot or base of the cog is formed completely off to the side of the cog. The ones I have are slightly rounded where this material has been pushed out, all the contact of the cog to freehub is offset to the side so it sideloads badly. It can flex under load. On a Singlespeed-specific steel driver it worked ok, but on a standard aluminum freehub body this is a problem. I’ve had it drop chains because of this and now it’s starting to bend, I’m gonna throw another cog on here before I hurt myself.

Strong steel cog for your SS conversion!
I bought this SS cog so I could run a deore freehub wheelset on my single speed '85 Rockhopper street bike. I figured, for the money, it would be just ok. I've run it for a few months and I'm very pleased with the strength and quality of the steel. Between the wide base and the tall teeth, it works much better than a conventional cog. I highly recommend it for people that are looking for strong single speed parts and don't wanna spend a ton of cash on name brands.

Good product but I noticed it is leaving gashes in my freehub. All the posts about converting a multi-speed to single speed say to use a cog with a wider base to prevent this but it still seems to be happening. The ride is great and so far no chain skipping, so I am happy with the performance.

Meehh
Looks good but does not perform well, I dropped the chain on 4 occasions in a cyclocross race under different circumstances.Needs to be made with taller teath and beafier material
