Easy Rock Instrumental Solos, Level 1: Alto Sax, Book & Online Audio/Software (Easy Instrumental Solos Series)

I was expecting sax solo transcription but it's only the sung melody. It's inexpensive and might be fun to play a familiar melody of songs I enjoy. Someone could get lyrics somewhere online and use this for karaoke.

My 13 year old grandson, a budding musician, seemed very happy to receive this book of rock and roll songs that he can practice by himself. I hope it can foster stepping out of the marching band repertoires, and allow him to just fool around and have fun with his sax on his own.

Why does the sax part always take the place of the vocals even when there is a sax part in the song? Every song I have tried in this book is both easy to learn and easily recognizable. Lots of fun to play.

I bought this product because it said it was "easy".I haven't played my horn since 95 but I'm looking forward to rocking easy.

I'm enjoying the song choices and it is helpful that there are two tracks. One where you play along with a flute and the other without the flute.

I'm sure the book is fine, but the songs are too hard for my first-year student. Nice selection, though a nine-year-old won't know most of them. CD will be a help.Update - in her second year of lessons, she's ready for "Open Arms" and "New Soul." She still doesn't know who Journey is.

FYI: This is 12-page book of ONLY "solos" from the listed songs... If that is what your looking for great, otherwise I would have really appreciated the entire songs with solos.

Son really likes playing from this book. Great songs, easy read for beginners yet gives them some more challenging ones too. Very happy with this purchase.

I bought this to use with adult students learning the sax. This book fits the bill very well. The songs are not too difficult to play but are a good stepping stone to more difficult material. They are written in easier keys and offer an alternative to jazz or classical pieces.

I know these weren't expensive, but the written sheet music looked as if it had been produced without a proof reader. It is riddled with errors which would confuse a beginner. I was hoping to use it with students, but I will have to correct the music before I can use it.

I agree with Robert1960: this book is extremely poor quality and is riddled with mistakes. I spent ages re-writing the score for "Smooth" - all the others are of the same poor quality. It looks like pirated material!!

Strange keys so you can't play with the original...although the play-along tracks are pretty good.
