Not a proper fit for my Savage Model 12 SA
The hole closest to butt of stock is off by .005", screw would start but didn't feel correct , after removal could see finish removed on first two threads of screw due to alignment issue. Researched reviews and questions and found another purchaser found the same issue. Package opened and partially installed, is this item still returnable?

Unfortunately a bit of a disappointment...
I was pretty excited when I found this and read that it fit the Remington LA 700. I have the ADL 30.06 and this with the extended adjustable area would be perfect for my new Vortex scope. Upon receiving it and mocking it up I realized that the bosses for the screws are slightly off (or the tap on my rifle was done poorly at Remington) and will not mount up without stripping either the threads in the receiver or the screws out of the box. With hunting season right around the corner I opted to modify mine so a return is out of the question. I just don't have time and I need to dial this rifle in so that I am confident with it. So, if you are shooting a Remington 700 ADL long action take heed that unless you want to do some additional modifications this would not fit my rifle out of the box and it may not fit yours either. Maybe it's Remington's issue and the holes in my rifle were tapped slightly off I really can't say but either way it was a bit of a disappointment. My rifle was tapped for a scope from the factory. With a little creative file and dremel work this can easily be fit to work and be secure but if I had known this going in I would have purchased another mount. All of the holes were off by the same amount and were butting up to the forward most part of the mount by just a hair. By removing some of the lip from the underside of it that secures at the chamber I was able to mount it successfully. Not optimum but I am confident that it will hold and not shift around. On the plus side the mount seems to be very made and the rings fit perfectly. The machining seems good and I don't anticipate many would want or need to bed this mount unless the receiver surface is in question.Delivery was fast and packaging was good. No issues there at all. I have attached a photo of the mounting point for the screws to show where they sat mounted on my rifle. The pic is the best I could do and although it looks as if it may just make it there it definitely did not.

Excellent product worth 2-3x the money
This is an excellent product for the money. My savage is my cheap loaner gun. My other rifles wear far more expensive brands and this one stacks right up with them. After using various different brands of pic rails over the years, I've found that I generally like ones that extend forward of the receiver, which this one does. It makes it a little easier to dial in your eye relief and ensure that your rings are spaced properly for the scope. This rail also has a recoil lug that engages the receiver for extra security. One of my main beefs with comparable products from EGW in particular is the screws shipped with the rail. They are often vey cheap, soft, hex-head screws that are difficult to torque properly, and if you do torque them to the proper 30+ in/lbs, they get stuck and the heads strip out. Weaver shipped surprisingly high-quality T15 screws with this rail. The hard-anodized finish on this rail is excellent and is a deep, rich black color.Over-all excellent product. Some people will only use steel rails on their precision rifles due to inherent strength differences of the two materials. I have three thoughts about that. 1) fill yer boots, man. 2) you're seriously underestimating aluminum and the forces applied to a picatinny rail. Thay make airplanes out of aluminum. 3) steel may be worth it if it's on an extremely high-recoil magnum rifle with a 3-pound scope. 99% or rifles out there would never see any benefit, though. Save the money, save the weight. Buy something like this rail.

Really like the Scope base
Really like the Scope base, I have bough weaver stuff here and there but was never a real fan. I have a friend here on a wildlife Agency here who uses this base and after shooting his rifle I figured I'd try one for my wildlife control rifle. I bought this for my Savage P-SR 18" barrel + I added a Silencerco Saker 7.62. Its in 308 so it will fit all of the SA class of rifles of the Model 10 Variety. When I installed it I checked (As I always do) for the way the holes line up, sometimes they make holes oversized because they are not certain of the spacing, in this case they do not, because its not needed. In a world of CNC there is no reason to do it, we can simply make them right the first time. This is certainly the case with this Base. I'm using this one for night culling and hunting with a state agency as a part of a Veterans Program. I review items on several blogs to raise awareness and to show manufacturers that the review of someone who uses his gear to the fullest (Wounded Vet) can write a half way decent review of their products. If they send me something to review, I will notate it and when I'm done most likely I donate it to the Veterans group as a loaner. Help me by clicking "Helpful" in the links, it takes no time and helps alot, thank you and I'll try to keep writing and test stuff as we need it.

Awesome rail
Pretty good mount, usually buy talley bases/rails, but figured I’d try this one knowing weaver makes pretty decent products For a fair price.

the screws aligned and it went on great, and works well
Functions well. Had a slight fitment issue with the recoil lug, had to grind it back to get it to fit my 700. Once it just sat down, the screws aligned and it went on great, and works well, on a 338 ultra and it is strong.

Does a great job for its intended purpose.
insert screws might be slightly long. Make sure to check depending on usage.I had to remove the 2 back screws and file them down as the bolt was not able to be removed from the action.Well built.
