Q: Can't i just plant ginger rizomes fron the grocery store?

Yes, but they are not as likely to grow as what you get here. I am not sure if there are things done to fruits and veggies here that prevent them from rooting, but the store bought ginger I used would not root or grow for some reason or it would root grow sparingly and then stop. I purchased these and planted ALL the rhizomes and had beautiful ginger plants within a couple weeks.

Q: Where do these come from exactly? Peru, Brazil, China?

The ones in the market have a tag on them the ones you are looking at come from the states

Q: Received the package, none of rhizomes have buds on them. will this sprout?

Mine had no buds on them either but i Just left them on the windowsill and misted them every day and the buds started to appear. I started off with a few organic pieces I bought at the grocery store. I have been growing ginger for about 10 years now. I used to leave it by a window in the winter and then it died back and I would take the whole thing up and replant a few pieces back in the pot. It remained dormant almost all winter but around March month it would start to poke out from the soil. I now put it in my greenhouse in the summer in a huge pot and i get a nice chunk of ginger at fall. I take off some budding pieces and plant them inside and start the whole process again. Been doing this for years now and I live in Newfoundland and Labrador,Canada.

Q: Will it volunteer/multiply if you leave a piece of the root in the ground?

Most definitely, they will multiply. I have them all over my yard now. However, I do live in a warm climate.
