Bucilla Felt Applique Advent Calendar Mittens and Stockings, Size 14.5 x 23.25-Inch

UPDATE: Finished it! I did add a white felt backing with interfacing. It was too heavy without additional support. Dowel stick used for hanger. A temporary removable wall hanger will be used. LOVE how it turned out.———I bought this about a year ago. Just started working on it a few weeks ago. Finished the main piece this morning. Did two of the date pieces (stocking/mitten). It’s a LOT if work - but so cute. The stockings/mittens really take some time to finish (about 90 minutes each). The final result will be well worth my time. Making it for my granddaughter who will be about 18 months this coming Christmas. BTW - I am backing the final piece with a solid interfacing and another piece of white felt with a pocket for foam board. The sheer weight of the santa/snowman/gift bag/dates will be far too much for the felt loops alone. I am reinforcing the hang loops also. I think by adding the extra reinforcement, it will last my granddaughter many, many years to come!

So this is beautiful. Not done though. Started it on November first and will not have it done by tomorrow. This is not a one day project. I devoted one whole Saturday and was able to complete the trees and the snowman. I bought seven kits to do for each child and grandchild and will hopefully have them done by 2021 Christmas. Not overly complicated but very detailed and a lot of sewing and stitching by hand. Enjoy it if you get it. I e learned a new skill. I just did t realize what the time element would be. Hope to have one done by this Christmas. 😔

I just finished this advent calendar. It’s really cute and sparkly! I did add a backing of felt because I didn’t like that you could see all the sewing, but also I felt it was a bit flimsy without it. It was a lot of work but I have made 8 of the stockings over the years so I knew what I was getting myself into. It was totally worth the work. I’m giving it to my daughter and I know she’ll love it.

Much thicker felt than the last 3 Santa face advent calendar I stitched together. The backing on those kits was more like paper, would tear easily with the slightest stitching, would never buy those again. This kit might be an older kit as it is much better quality, much nicer felt to work with and the blue backing much better. This is Bucilla quality, the others were not up to standard.

I bought it as a gift and I am looking forward to giving it!

I’m making this for myself to replace another BUCILLA advent calendar I made over 30 years ago that is now with one of my grown children. I’m sure the same quality will make this one everlasting as well!

It is everything I had hoped it would be. Not finished with it yet but very easy to work with so far.
