When our youngest kiddo declared that they wanted to play chess "all the time," we decided to get this set for them. It's a great set for learning the moves of the pieces, and as a reminder for those of us who might be rusty! The spinner is a great addition if you don't know which piece you want to move - we also use it as a kind of "oh you used the spinner so now you HAVE to move that piece!" kind of thing. Kiddo's upping their game fast, so this is great practice for us all. Magnetic board makes it easy to "pause" a game, and less likely for the cat to steal pieces. A great set!

It looks amazing, it’s well made, and it’s good for all ages and levels. It does a great job of helping you learn chess and it grows with you.

I'll admit I was a little concerned about what pieces I might be missing, or if I would receive the same color pieces, after reading some of the reviews. But I took the chance considering the price. The set was for my grandkids so they could learn chess.When it arrived I immediately checked the set and pieces. Everything was good, white and black and all pieces were there. I gave it to the grandkids who all liked the fact the movements for each piece are shown on the sides facing the players. Also, the magnetic bottom (if the plastic guide sheet isn't placed on top) is great for holding the pieces in place in case of an incidental bump.True it may not be a full size board/chess set but it's a great beginner set.

I bought this for a middle school special education class and it was perfect for teaching the moves in chess. It's not very sturdy, and a little on the small side. I promised my students once they learned the moves I'd buy them a tournament size. But this spinner makes them able to play independently without a lot of supervision. Even the adult helpers were learning to play. One thing, though, was that one set came with two queens instead of a king, and one of the pieces had the magnet on the bottom that was crooked. But for the price, I didn't send it back. I just marked the king and queen. I could probably get a cheap set of pieces to fix it up, but haven't had time.
