Wild Life Deluxe

Deluxe Edition of Wings Wild Life
This is a very nice, archival edition of the album/CD of the same name, Wings Wildlife. If you are not a diehard fan this edition may not be of value to you, but for fans of Paul McCartney, Wings and The Beatles, it is truly a gem, providing additional outtakes of songs and giving you lots of extras with books and document replicas. I love the songs on this CD which were written and recorded earlier in McCartney's career. There is nothing to dislike about this package.

Wings Wild Life Comes To Life! :)
Just a few highlights for me in regard to this release... The remastered and deluxe editions of both "Wild Life" and "Red Rose Speedway" were absolutely phenomenal, amazingly perfect (Booklets and doodles/sketches included!). ;)The jolly "Tomorrow," from the original album, which also was a highlight on the Paul McCartney "Wingspan" compilation, was one of my favorites and sounds amazing in remastered form... Gotta love the sound of a piano on any Paul McCartney song. :)Now, I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed BUT, while the record labels usually indicate that the album was recorded in stereo, "Bip Bop" was actually a mono recording... I like how in the rough mix (Which I still can't tell is an alternate version or not, while it is indeed presented in a slightly lower key) is actually featured in stereo! The rough mix has that left-to-right reverb effect on the vocals the same way that the vocals were featured on some of the stereo mixes from the "Revolver" album by The Beatles; Ex: "I'm Only Sleeping"/"And Your Bird Can Sing"/"Doctor Robert."The rough mix of "Mumbo" is missing those amazing high-pitched electric guitars but features a nice alternate stereo mix with the piano on the left channel and the guitars and organ on the right channel... The fade-in is pretty neat as well. :) I'm very glad that this release, as well as "Red Rose Speedway," didn't exclude any bonus tracks from the 1993 editions...Highlights for me, in regard to the bonus material, includes "When The Wind Is Blowing," which takes me back to the "McCartney" album and would have fit in nicely as part of that album, I think... Such a calm and relaxing atmosphere to that track! I also enjoy the "peppy" instrumental alternate version of "Give Ireland Back To The Irish" with the jolly sounding electric guitars... You have to hear it for yourself! Such energy on that track. :)The closer to the disc with bonus material, "African Yeah Yeah," is also enjoyable with the "sing-along" atmosphere... You can just tell that Paul and the gang were enjoying themselves while performing that number. :) It was also a treat to be presented with the home recordings of "Bip Bop" and "Hey Diddle," which was previously featured on "Wingspan," although some excerpts were missing or edited out on the "Wingspan" version. These are just a few of my favorite moments, and I'm sure that there are many others I will have forgotten to mention after submitting this review!Oh, and the alternate cover photos of the members of Wings were well presented too. :) If you are a Paul McCartney and Wings completest, you will go "Wild" over this release... It is definitely worth the price for both the audio as well as the visuals. :)Now, let's hope and pray for (HOPEFULLY) remasters/rereleases of both "London Town" and "Back To The Egg," two more favorite Wings albums of mine, as the next (Most likely!) reissues in the Paul McCartney archive collection. ;) Thanks for reading and God Bless! ~"KevyGuy" :)

Wings origin in detail
I found the 128 page book a revelation of the origin of Wings. The remastered version of Wild Life comes to life. It sounds so much 'clearer' than the 1993 remastered version. I actually liked the rough mixes almost as much as the album itself. And the third and final cd is the bonus audio tracks, with quite a few home recordings and other gems, including Give Ireland Back To The Irish (which the band rehearses on the bonus video DVD, along with My Love and a few others). I really enjoyed watching Paul on acoustic guitar, and Linda singing along, to their playful children on the farm in Scotland. I would highly recommend this deluxe version of Wild Life.

McCartney Archive Continues to Deliver
I have heard and read negative comments about the Paul McCartney Archive Collection. I have loved every reissue and the feeling continues with Wings Wild Life. The beginning of the history of Wings documented as never before. Great stuff for collectors and those with a passing interest.

Wings Wild Life Rocks!
Wings Wild Life is Paul McCartney at his funkiest and free musically! He is doing his own thing not constrained by The Beatles shackles! It is a great album and this is a great boxset with important extras!

A Nice Look at Early Wings
I swore after McCartney started jacking prices on his archive sets up into the stratosphere that I was not gonna buy another one of his stinking expensive releases, and then Amazon offers up a lightning deal for a much more realistic price of like $80. Way better price for for a 4 disc set, though still a bit high for those of us that could care less about picture books (yawn and those here are nothing new even though I like Linda’s photography)...but it was enough of a price drop that I bit even if this doesn't have the massive audio extras other sets have had. While do I feel a little guilty about it, I feel a lot less guilty that the marketing staff that thought Red Rose Speedway would be worth $180 with everyone needing two copies of Bruce McMouse. As for this set, you can tell Paul is still looking around for a specific direction and it’s a nice exploration of the early work with his new band. Plus the remastered album sounds so much better then my old 8 track copy.
