Not sure if it’s real or not, but for the price, it appears to be a decent watch.
So... I don’t know anything about August Steiner or his watches, but I know that at my favorite department store this “same” watch was listed for several hundred dollars. However, I’m not sure this watch is the real deal. It says August Steiner all over it but when it arrived there were little paper tags attached to it that appeared to be written in Chinese. Also, the little “official” card that came with it is written with poor grammar. The finish is a little smudged or tarnished in one spot, but it’s not really noticeable unless you look up close. I couldn’t capture it in the pictures, so really, it’s not that big of a deal, but it was noticeable to me when I examined the watch after taking it out of the packaging. I *was* able though, to capture the minor scratches that it has incurred just since opening the package an hour ago so I’m not sure how durable that is going to be, and in between the links the finish is kind of rough, as if it were some sort of overlay that didn’t get completely smoothed out in production, but of course this would only be minimally noticeable during wear, if anyone happened to be looking up close. The face is pretty, made of what appears to be genuine mother of pearl. There are also what appear to be some little diamond chips in place of the numbers, however they have a greyish tint to them so if they are real diamonds, they are low quality. I don’t mind that though, as they aren’t really noticeable, and do add a bit of extra sparkle. The face of the watch has an inscription that says “diamond dial”. I’m not sure if that is watchmaker lingo for the way it’s made (such as “quartz” watches), or if it’s referring to the stones in the dial, but I am quite sure those are most definitely not real. They do appear to be secure and clear & bright, but I am sure they are most likely either glass or crystals. The links are difficult for me to remove, but I have never done this before. Perhaps a safety pin isn’t the right tool, so I will have to take it to a shop to have this done. I will also have them tighten the clasp, as it doesn’t stay locked and the watch will surely fall off if I wear it before then. All of that said, I’m not convinced this is a $400 watch. And if it is, in fact a true “August Steiner” watch, I’m really glad I didn’t pay that much for it. The most I have ever paid for a watch was $50 so I’m not familiar with the quality of a higher end piece, however I would be very disappointed if this is the quality you get for that kind of money. But for this price ($34), I think I will keep it. It’s pretty, stylish, and no one else is going to know about all of the little flaws that I have found in writing this review. Overall, I am excited to get it sized so I can wear it, and if it lasts a year or two, it will have been worth the money to me. Hope this helps!*UPDATE*I took the watch to the jeweler today and they sized it for me but were not able to fix the clasp which doesn’t even latch at all now, a day after writing my original review. Thankfully, the watch did come with a replacement clasp which doesn’t say “August Steiner” like the original (not sure why a $400 watch would need a replacement clasp to begin with, but glad to have it), however, the replacement clasp doesn’t seem very secure either. I contacted the seller to let them know of this issue and to ask what kind of compensation I would receive if I lost the watch due to a faulty clasp, which at this point is now a growing concern. The seller’s customer service is going to make or break this deal for me. The watch is very pretty, but will have been a complete waste of money if I lose it. I’ll update again after I get a response or decide if the latch is going to hold up or not. *Because of the latch issue and my uncertainty about the quality of this watch, I bumped my rating down from 4 stars to 3.

August Steiner Crystal Accented Watch
Nice watch, all stainless steel for sensitive skin like mine. However, the watch wouldn't keep time, changed the battery and still had the same issue. It lost an hour plus, even after a new battery, each day. I returned this watch for a more expensive August Steiner watch that I had previously.

LARGE & bulky, cheap
LARGE & bulky....much too large & have not been able to get the link out yet. Quality is not good enough to justify a trip to the jewelers

Antiestetico
Era descritto come orologio da donna ma è un pataccone che non finisce più! Enorme, antiestetico, e per di più, solo dopo sei mesi non funzionava più. Non penso che farò valere la garanzia, perché comunque non lo indosserei
