Minnesota's Golden Age of Wrestling: From Verne Gagne to the Road Warriors Review: Great Looks at the AWA - This is well done look at the AWA. Verne Gagne creation to become world champion is covered from start to finish, including the events leading Gagne creating his own promotion. It is well written but does look more at results in the major AWA towns and not backstage tales. There is more information in the era in which the author seemed most familiar and the side notes and program clippings are a nice edition. Personally would have left of the wrestling word dictionary page but I understand why it was put there. Overall if you ever wanted to know more about the AWA promotion and the feuds and talents that made up the cards, give this a buy. Review: A must for any wrestling fan! - This has to be one of the best wrestling books I ever read! I was a fan of the AWA growing up, and this book not only brought back a lot of memories, but gave me a lot of information I never knew. The pictures were great as were the stories. It's only shortcomings were that a few dates were off and it seems to end abruptly (the section on the 80's and 90's). Otherwise, it is a fantastic book.

Very good!
This does tend to be more of a results book on the AWA, but that in itself is wonderful. Plus the pictures and pieces of trivia along the borders are a great addition to any wrestling fan

GREAT BOOK
This book is nothing short of absolutely great. You could never find a more comprehensive coverage and historical perspective than right here from Mr Schire. I've read the book four times and plan on reading it again. George Schire truely is The Authority when it comes to pro wrestling, especially Minnesota and all through the existence of the AWA in 1989. There is plenty of information and the dates, places, etc are all right on the money. If you consider yourself a historian you must read this book and more than once. Well, what are you waiting for...Verne Gagne to drop the AWA title to Billy Robinson? Well, if you were, you'll love this. This book is also a great education for the younger fans who never got to witness real pro wrestling, not sports entertainment.

Betcha can't guess who's on the cover about to get body slammed
What a tremendous book, filled to the brim with wrestling history. It's literally a gold mine of information on the good old days of professional wrestling in Minnesota. The book starts off in the 1930's and tells all the history and stories up until the end of the AWA in 1990. Then it goes on to tell the history of the most popular individual and tag team personalities in wrestlings Golden Age. Get this book if you grew up watching the AWA back in the day.

Great gift
Bought this as a gift for Christmas. I looked it over before sending it off and thought it was a great book. My brother loved it and was going to share it with others. We both grew up in MN and it brought back many memories.
